If Purdue's current coach was from Manhattan, KS and went to KSU, would he currently leave Purdue for louisville? Almost certainly, no.

Rumors of Brohm to louisville lie solely on the fact that he is from there and went there. While enticing, I doubt that's all he ultimately wants in life- to coach football at louisville. If his goal is to one day coach on a premier stage, he can use the Purdue gig to get him to that stage. He doesn't need to go to louisville from Purdue to get there. Most people want to take the easiest and most direct route to get where they want to go. Adding a stop at louisville only complicates the logistics of his ultimate destination. Why go through the hassle of buyouts, moving, switching kids' schools, acclimating, buying and selling houses, etc. if he knows he's going to do it again in a couple more years anyway? Add in the fact that Purdue is at least as good of a job already, if not better, than louisville, and I would be shocked if he left Purdue to go to louisville- it just doesn't make much sense.

That’s exactly what he wants to do is coach football at Louisville. Stewart Mandel talked about this in one of his mailbags. He’s not a guy looking to coach at the top place in cfb. He’s looking to be at one place for a long time. It’s basically Purdue or Louisville for him.

We'll see.

I have no doubt Brohm actually said those things, but it's one thing to say them (keeping everybody happy at your school(s) in the meantime), and quite another to actually follow through with them over the next 5-25 years. Money, challenges, accomplishments, legacy, control, etc. all start dancing through peoples' heads as they advance in their careers. At Purdue and louisville, those will always be limited. At other programs, not as much. Good for Brohm if he decides to stay at Purdue or louisville until 2040. But every year we hear coaches say how happy they are at ___ program, then leave 2 days later for a better job. And it's why coaches like calipari and saban reach the zenith of their profession at one place, but still decide to leave for more.

A lot of coaches have said that though. Not saying it isn't true, or won't happen, but would not be surprise if he went on to bigger things than the Ville or PU. If Louisville is his dream, good for him. Small dream, but he should do what makes him happy. Money and success changes things though...

It’s more than just “he said those things”. Plenty of signs point to him either staying in Purdue or going to Louisville and that’s it
