Either he wasn't a good fit or, like everyone else, we under-valued him.

I think they just really liked the kids we ended up with and felt fairly good about those guys for most of the cycle. Elliot, Vaughn, Love, and Perry were very early. Then you have to save space for guys like Studstill and Pride. Becker is a nice prospect with a lot of raw tools and I'd welcome him but it'd be hard for me to say I'd take him over any of the guys we have currently, accept maybe morgan.

I think the growing consensus is that he is one of the better CBs nationally, or am I wrong?

If he is, while I have no problem with our haul at all, I'm not so sure that our CB recruiting was such a slam dunk all year that we would have purposefully turned down a nationally-coveted CB. Sounds like we liked other guys, including Cuffee, better.

247 composite has him at #482 and 45th CB.

Now, I've always liked him more than that and I'd bet he gets quite the bump from being at the UA practices and game but it still goes back to, who would I take him over and at this time its really hard to say. Studstill, Elliot, and Pride are no brainers. He's a similar player to Vaughn as they are both big CB's with the potential to play S and Vaughn was willing to commit early and Becker wasn't. I think that is the right decision. Love also had a really good senior season and was willing to commit early so can't fault the staff their. Lastly, Perry and Morgan I think end up being entirely different players at the next level. So though I like Becker, where does he fit in with that group.

Last bolded point is yes, they simply liked other guys more and most of those guys were willing to shut it down early. Also, Cuffee hasn't been really in play for awhile now. He fell further down the CB as the process played out and Hamlin and Pride were identified as the guys their.

That's all in line with how I see it too. If he is going to get a bump from "good D1 prospect" to "very good D1 prospect," then the coaches strategy not only makes sense, but was probably the best one.

My point is just that, on the other hand, if he's going to get the bump to "excellent" prospect, I don't know why the coaches would not have pursued him while they were going after Hamlin and Pride unless, like everyone else, they just didn't see it yet.

I think Lucci laid it out correctly. The staff made the right call in every situation IMO, but would I take Becker over Morgan and maybe Love? Yes. But we didn't have hindsight at the time.

Morgan and Perry seem more like Drew Tranquils to me, which I am fine with.

Is Morgan really going to get a look at CB?

I can't imagine Morgan playing in the 2ndary much unless it's nickel. IDK where Perry plays but I think he's going to be a ballar.

IMO .....morgan will end up in James O.'s position on outside backer, tranquil is faster and would be more likely Perry plays the hybrid role AT LEAST 2 YEARS IN...not stating initially...i just feel morgan isn't as fast but has the ability to add much more girth than he has now...he is frail looking to me

Agree with what is said about. Morgan would probably end up playing the drop linebacker.

Perry at first I see in the Drew Tranquil nickel role, but eventually see him as a SS starter.
