Err, Tommy accounted for 259 yds, 61% of the Total Offense. ND had 417 yds of Offense. ND converted 8 of 19 third downs, one conversion short of their season average.

Rees took the snap on all 78 plays. On a lot of those plays he checked into the play called.

He hit 62% of his passes. There were some nice grabs by receivers and some drops. He hit a 35 - 40 yd pass to Floyd in stride but Michael drew TWO flags on completion that was erased. It wasn't Tommy's fault but he would have been at the 300 yd mark with that catch. A lot of Rees incompletions were throwaways due to coverage.

And yes, Rees threw the ball 39 times and threw an interception at midfield that was meaningless in the game. BC did nothing with it. BC had the ball for 51 seconds, 3 and out. Correspondingly Rettig threw the ball 38 times. He has an INT% that's 2-1/2 times that of Rees' but ND's D not only didn't make an INT, the DBs didn't record a Pass Broken Up. ND had 3 PBU's in the game, Lynch, Nix, and Calabrese.

If Kelly wanted Rees to run, he would have tried. If was obvious he wasn't supposed to run. In another thread someone pointed had Rees had a banged up knee. I don't know if it was bothering him, or even a concern. I don know Kelly had 3 more mobile QBs on the bench but didn't call any of them. Kelly gutted out the game with his main guy. Sometimes coaches do that for development. Sometimes they do it because they believe that guy gives them the best chance to win. Kelly noted in responding to the second question of the post game presser, regarding Rees' play. Kelly responded, "12-2 as a starter. Pretty good for a starter."

For all those moaning about the 1 interception, in 39 attempts that works out to an INT% of 0.2564. Clausen (0.2432) and Quinn (0.2434) ND's best averaged 1 INT per 41 attempts. Crist (0.2663) averages an INT every 37 attempts. Statistically Rees is 1 int in 39 today was the same as a Clausen, a Quinn, or a Crist would throw. So much for the MAC QB comment.

Thank goodness the game counts yards as points. I like a nice triple digit victory. You cannot deny that the defense won this game.

How do you think Tommy Turnover will do next year year when he cant throw 7- 10 screens to floyd next year? Those are extended run plays, that blow up his stats. in my count Tommy threw a pick and had 3 dropped picks. If you think this kid will ever get a win in a BCS game you must be his father? Not saying he isn't the best we have right now. I'm just saying he's a mediocre QB with an Extremely low ceiling.

he throws 0 to 10 yard passes on almost all of his passes. the screens that he throws 10 times a game are extended run plays. Get Real, if you think he could win a BCS game.
