It's how I think about Coach Kelly (from my irrelevant distance.) I view him as an incredibly good and disciplined big picture systemic builder. He is a natural successful "Boss." He doesn't have enough "softness"in his instinctive (empathetic?) personality to allow an "employee" to ever REALLY like him, and the weaker personalities will "fear"him. You as employee will like rare occasions when he hands down (note the "down") honors from the podium, but you will never conceive of going on a camping trip with him. It's just a personality flaw which he can't overcome --- he knows about it -- see the stupid awkward things he tries to float out there to become more "human" and relatable. But the easy relatability is just not in him. Unfortunately for him, his big flaw is exactly the thing which will stop his teams from full accomplishment (athletes which need a little friendship in leadership and becoming individuals really melding into one band of warriors as family with a liked patriarch.) The guy can BUILD. A really good "building" WILL win ... but maybe not every time. (unless your warriors are just that good and created the family on their own.)
