One of the best OL at the AAA Jr. Combine. While he lives in Tampa now, he grew up in Pittsburgh, so it might not be that hard to get him out of the south. His dad also played at Miami from ’85 – ’88 with Maurice Crum Sr.

Patchen is quoted as saying that he is going to make an official visit to Notre Dame for sure, which is hopeful. On the negative side, he just transferred to Torrey Davis's (Florida's top DL recruit for 2007) High School to play his Senior year.

The same high school that Tim Tebow played at.

Not good.

His new school is Seffner (Fla.) Armwood. Thats where Torrey Davis went, not Nease. Tebow and James Wilson were from Nease.

Patchan is now listed as an offer on B&G. Patchan was apparently expecting an offer two months ago, but acknowledged earlier this month that he had not been in contact with the ND coaching staff for a while, and had never received a written offer. Well apparently that is old news now as Matt who is generally considered to be one of the Top OL prospects in the Class of 2008 becomes the 57th member of the 2008 Irish Envy Official Offer list.

CW stopped by to visit Patchan while in Florida last Friday. Patchan was excited to meet CW in person, and had good things to say about the ND program. He is also planning on reducing his school choice list down to the 5-7 range shortly, and has said for certain that 2 schools will be on that final list, Miami & Florida. Patchan also plans on enrolling at his college of choice for the 2008 Spring Semester, so he will probably be making a final decision early in the school year after making some visits. ND would seem to have a good chance at making Patchan's next cut, but if CW can pull this kid away from Miami or the Cockwad, it would be one of the great recruiting coups of the last couple of years.

Yes, he did. But that's not really a big suprise given that his dad played there.

Just look at Anthony McDonald for details on the parental angle.

We'll have a shot, but I think he ends up somewhere other than ND. That doesn't mean we won't try though.

Patchan is supposed to cut down his list to 5-7 by the end of this month. From the sounds of this free Scout article, it looks like ND is a safe bet to make the cut. Patchan is definitely planning on visiting South Bend this summer and had nice things to say about CW. Another early enrollee, Patchan is also likely to make a decision shortly after he visits ND.

IUB are you talking about his summer visit to ND or an official because in the article it mentions.........Patchan plans to graduate in December, so he'll be making his commitment around that time as well.
Did you hear if he is going to announce this summer?

Remember this article is wriiten by Wallace. I think he misquoted Patchan as to when he plans to announce. It is very unusual for an early enrollee to wait until December to make his announcement. Sabino is looking at late September, even Benn only waited until 11/9 and that was most likely only because he was still jerking ND around, although AA did not commit until December 1, so it is possible that Patchan said it. Everything else I have seen on Patchan seems to indicate that he wants to visit all of the schools on his cut list during the summer, so that he can make a decision before football season starts. His visit to ND will be in the summer, so it will not be an Official. For the Irish, the longer he takes the better, but I don't see this lasting into October. Not much has changed either, he likes ND & CW, but Miami & Florida are way ahead of everyone else on this one. Hopefully, the visit will be impressive enough to give the Irish a legitimate shot.

IUB...question for you. Considering your daughter and I are about the same age, would you be against my proposing marriage to her? I'm not sure what she's like but you are the perfect father-in-law for me. Any thoughts? :gbanana:

It all depends. How much money does your family have. We are talking reverse dowry here, my man. Although, I will give you a break because you are in Philly.

Offers mean one thing but whats most important is how good he is. I guess Patchan is the better of the two.

I would have to agree at this point. Out of the three remaining offered OL that ND has a realistic shot at, I would have to say that I favor Patchan and Page over Forst. Although I would be happy to pick up one or two more out of the three.

I would prefer Pocic to get an offer (that is my opinion.) I think Patchan is by far the biggest O-line recruit in terms of ability and upside. Page would obviously come next followed by Pocic. I have seen Forst play in person and I have to say he moves well for a big man, but does not know how to use his hands and basically bull rushes his way through D-Lineman. It works on 225 lineman in HS( Group 2: The 2nd lowest group in Central Jersey--There are 4---.) You can teach that, but I don't know but watching him I feel he's good but there are others I would put ahead of him. Great player either way these are just my opinions on observations.

Does anyone know what position ND is recruiting him at? I just assumed it would be at OT but i noticed his 40 time is listed at 4.6 and the LSU coaches told him they wanted to make him into the best DE they've ever had. At 6'7" 265lbs with that speed he would be a powerful rush end for us that could maybe even bump back to OLB. Also, we are at kind of a need at the OLB/DE hybrid so it would make sense if we are recruiting him there.

Too big of a frame to be a LB IMO. Not that it would be a regular pastime for him, but I can't imagine a 6'7" guy dropping into coverage with much success. His frame looks like a lineman's, not at all like a LB's.

He'd be a DE in the 3-4, pretty simple. They are recruiting him as an OT, but they have mentioned giving him a look at DL as well.
