    2025 College Football Playoffs

The issue was the front-loading, not the overall difficulty of the schedule. Clearly we were finding our footing early and stumbled. If we're playing an easier first two games we likely win even while stumbling and end up 11-1, like Oregon. It's extremely unusual to have a schedule where the...

The fact that this has turned entirely into a Miami or ND fight -instead of Miami + ND vs. one of OU/Bama- is very interesting. I think Miami deserves to be in, too. Has any Miami fan said they deserve to be in over OU and/or Bama?

    1. It should go without saying that it can be true that we should have gone 2-0 or 1-1 in the first two games and that we deserve to be in and the system needs reform. 2. The committee can come up with a justification for whatever it wants to do. We're just waiting to figure out what it wants...

The whole defense failed against A&M. But yeah, that was bad.

Why not? The chair just said that Bama needing a 4th and whatever to beat an awful Auburn team was "gutsy." It's an SEC protection racket.

    2025 College Football Playoffs

That's right. ND needs to push aggressively on this and other fronts. Regardless of what happens. Maybe it won't matter, but both ND and Miami should be in, imo. That isn't possible, in part, because of the ACC's bizarre rules.

I guess it's true that Vegas somehow knew Bama would jump us. So maybe we will have an early indication about what happens vis-a-vis Miami.

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Yeah, that's true, but we're clearly one of the 4-5 best teams, imo. Need to move to a computer system. The justifications won't change week to week.

Because if BYU loses they can move Miami to 11 and then switch us.

    2025 College Football Playoffs

That was bad but A&M was worse. Win that game and there's no issue. And, of course, it's extremely unusual to have the first two games be the toughest two.

I don't want to attack the guy too much- there were a bunch of other reasons for that loss and maybe we still lose even if goes to OT. But if we get left out, that's the main thing he will be remembered for at ND, unfortunately.

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Worst loss I've seen since following ND (2013), because of this (possible) outcome.

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Need to move back to a computer formula. Everyone would know in advance how much different events matter. Do we benefit from winning by 28 instead of 21? Does 9-3 against a better schedule rank you higher than 10-2 against a weaker schedule? Etc. We wouldn't have (literal) politicians lobbying a...

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Because if BYU loses then Miami moves up to 11 and then they can swap us, or something. Seems plausible tbh.

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Is it an actual rule that the order of teams that aren't playing can't change at this point? Or just a practice that might change? Because yeah, it seems like this is the setup for that.

Also didn't FSU lose? And didn't Bama lose to FSU? I don't know why the A&M loss is a big deal, frankly.

Hard to disagree. Need to move back to a BCS computer system.

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Need to move back to a BCS computer system or something. We wouldn't have people lobbying for a spot or whatever.

Did OU cover in their "hard to kill" performance?

    2025 College Football Playoffs

Losing by 18 to Texas in what was basically a non-competitive game on a neutral site isn't a bad loss? It isn't just who a team loses to, it's how they lose.
