Not that I remember but I know they were buddies from those days. I did get a chance to meet John Mellencamp (then Johnny Cougar) at a bar though after he played there so I guess that was my consolation prize 🤣

I think it’s also in relation to the Vandy media overreacting by proclaiming he was going to be an instant impact player. That’s not a realistic statement for a player that hadn’t proven himself in college yet.

Desmond sure does find it humorous……

They didn’t give up 70 last week……NIU had 50+ points though and they are awful. IIRC, they haven’t won a game in over two years. But they did collect a check from IU for $450K last night.

One thing to keep in mind is that Jimmy Rane, who is Auburn’s wealthiest booster, is worth north of $1B. $100K is a drop in the bucket for him. However, I don’t know that the $100K per visit is accurate nor do we know if there are no strings attached. It does sound insane though!

I also really enjoy O’Malley‘s writing…….pretty entertaining with some great humor.
