    Alabama HC Nick Saban Retires

Not gonna argue hes a damn good football coach, but also not sure how anyone can predict his NFL success without knowing the team, GM, and roster. There's only 1 guy now in the NFL who controls his roster and he won the Super Bowl last year. Harbaugh aint getting that control.

ASU isn't close to prominent unless you're talking campus views by the pool, and Herm is still in his 60s.

    Coaching Carousel

I'm 38 years old and starting to think the combo of NIL and portal has the glory days of college football in the rearview mirror. 15 years ago college football had: Saban at Bama Meyer at Florida Carroll at USC Stoops at Oklahoma Mack at Texas Joe Pa at PSU Miles at LSU Chip Kelly at Oregon...

The fact that some of you guys think any prominent D1 program would entertain hiring a coach in his 70s is hysterical, especially a guy coming from the NFL.

When you make $10m a year, you can buy your own coffee/ espresso machine for home. Or buy a coffee shop and no wait. Whatever works. Let's say he made the same money at Bama he does at Washington. $4m goes a LOT further in Alabama than it does in Seattle.

Here's the difference: Washington might build Deboer a statue for getting Washington to the CFP. At Bama, they will be on his front lawn with tiki torches and pitchforks if he doesn't have top 5 recruiting classes and 11-12 wins every year. That's culture.

That's because my points were stronger haha. Fair enough...agree to disagree. Deboer got the job and good luck filling Saban's shoes. I'd still take Norvell and by the looks of it, Bama offered Norvell first. FSU upped the anty for Norvell and that's why he's staying at FSU.

You don't go 13-0 with smoke and mirrors unless you're at UCF playing in the American Conference. FSU was an embarrassing shitshow in 2020 when he got there and led them to an undefeated season 3 years later. Recruiting --- all I see with those numbers is improvement. And let's not kid...

Mike Norvell is the best candidate if you ask me: 1) Proven program builder 2) Knows the southeast and recruits well down there 3) Probably in line for a pay bump after what he just did with FSU in 2023 4) Buyout is doable 5) Not too young, not too old. Just enough experience being a head...

I would drive Franklin there myself, just to enjoy the comedy show that would follow.

I think that would bankrupt the state of Alabama. Kelly is at $9.5 million. Bama would have to give him a nice bump then pay the buyout. Plus, those 2 jobs are basically the same in terms of local talent, resources, history, conference, prestige, etc.

    What is the "uniform surprise"?

I'll have Lou with me for that convo

    What is the "uniform surprise"?

The mustard pants are hideous. I'd be perfectly happy going back to the 1993 unis, even if Champion made them.

    Alabama HC Nick Saban Retires

    1) One of the biggest days ever in college football. Helluva run for Bama and Saban. Dominoes are a comin. 2) Kinda ironic that Rees now will be looking for a job. 3) Georgia has to be smiling ear to ear. 4) It's borderline insane he was as successful as he was until 72. I would've retired...

Deland McCullough - RB Coach (2022-2024)

Firing Alford would be a really dumb move. They have no issues recruiting or developing RB's.

I lived in Lancaster for 3 years. I would move back tomorrow if I could. Cats Meow is a solid, small town bar with good food. Very popular on Friday nights after Barons football games.

Really surprised to see his lack of playing time at Wiscy. My gut would tell me this is a lock for PSU (and they need him way more than ND does), but there is the Rudolph thing.
