But, we haven't, see above. We didn't lose him because we added Blair. And as someone that loves Blair. He will not be playing S long term. 6'5 200 lb HS S's do not play S long term. They are very valuable pieces to a roster but not at S. Which is why there are so few in the NFL.

The commitment can't be a HUGE deal and then the de-commitment not.

Partially why moving him down, in some capacity, makes sense to me. Is he an average ATH at S? What is he at LB or Edge? You never know until the weight gets on but if he really is already 200 lbs. He’s really not that far off a Julian Okwara trajectory. Who I believe was about 210 around...

Very intriguing prospect. 6’5 200 lbs, at this stage, is not that far off a college Vyper/Edge. Huge fan of this addition.

    Al Golden

Agreed. I think he's a great football coach but that doesn't always translate to being a great HC.

BK and Clark Lea specifically recruited Watts because he could play defense. In fact, on signing day the running joke was that Lea was still pitching Watts on playing S. The plan all along was for Watts to move to S if he wasn’t playing at WR.

    Notre Dame Lacrosse Open thread

Question for those that follow Lax closely. Is there elite recruiting behind this? And, how repeatable is this success, year after year? I don’t mean winning a ship but is the talent on the roster and future rosters one that should expect to compete for it year in and year out?

'25 NC S JaDon Blair (Notre Dame Signee)

I think it’s going to be hard to make him a first time DC after Golden. Or make it Co-DC while Golden is still here. But, since we have two of the highest paid coordinators now. We might as well go for the highest paid secondary coach in the country and hope that works out.

Blair would be an ideal Rover. They don’t recruit to that position anymore but recruiting an ATH like that every cycle has its benefits.

‘21 AL QB Riley Leonard (Duke Transfer - Notre Dame Verbal)

Not to take anything away from this but It’s actually quite common for these guys to get together in the off-season at someone’s home and workout. Though I’d say this might have a larger group than normal. Players having money might make that easier.

'25 OH DL Gordy Sulfsted (Notre Dame Signee)

He looks like the typical 5/3 swing DL. I don't think we'd want him to play NT at 300 lbs. Likely lose the athlete.

I can only speak for myself but he most certainly could. Up to this point, he just isn't doing a very good job of it.

Solid developmental prospect. I have zero issues with the take and offer. Just don't tell me it's anything different than before. Only difference is we had a better coach, developing the prospects at that time. Washington remains overrated.

'25 MS QB Deuce Knight Auburn Verbal Ole Miss ???

Impressive stuff. Now consider how crazy it is that Deion Colzie ran a 10.82 100 and high jumped 6’8, at 6’4 200 lbs. and never really made an impact on the football field.

He sure is. Easily one of my favorite assistant coaches of the last 15 years. Total star as a DB coach.

Should be noted Justin Hill is a top 150 edge. Tough competition.

'25 WI OT Owen Strebig (Notre Dame Signee)

It’s just your average DL/OL 1v1, no different than the drills they’ve run at these camps for years. Strebig’s technique is just awful on that rep so maybe it looks different to some. One rep at one camp, who cares. But, certainly something that a coach would look at and say ok, let’s coach...
