Honestly it’s a combination imo. You have to play smart, if not you’ll get exposed by better players. But you also have to play with intensity. Intimidation is a killer, if you’re just going through the motions you’ll be taken advantage of.

I think being fired up and thinking are two different things. I’m acknowledging the intensity that these players are showing. It’s different, welcome, and needed. I don’t recall a time that ND practiced with this much intensity. Iron sharpens Iron, so they need to give their all every practice.

The prior HC didn’t have the ability to get his teams fired up. This is a big and very welcome difference.
