Interested in the presser now. Will Jack be there and field questions? 75% of the questions will be about the search, the process, Ludwig, and the fact that MF indicated he wanted an experienced play caller. The other 25% will be about Parker and his system- like does he have one? Does he...

Marcus Freeman named Dick Corbett Head Football Coach

Freeman was, presumably, Burnt Ends initial and number 1 want to be DC at ND. Not only did the administration not block him, they helped him win a bidding war. They gave Rees a big raise to keep him at ND rather than lose him to lsu. They poached Elko. Then offered him a raise to stay...

Marcus Freeman named Dick Corbett Head Football Coach

They matched A&M's offer to Elko (Elko then asked for another raise after A&M made another offer, and the said "good luck."). They hired Freeman, even after it was already being reported he would take the lsu job. They reportedly would match any offer Miami made to Rees last year, and Alabama...

Good lord. Ok, so now Utah officials are feeding ND officials bad info. Again, if Ludwig, his agent, or now some old lady in the registrar’s office are feeding ND bad or incorrect info, that isn’t on Swarbrick. They can only go with the info Ludwig, his agent, or the old lady in the office are...

I could buy this story. In addition to maintaining there was much more to the story than ND wouldn’t pay 2.8 or that ND had the wrong contract, I conceded some disconnect/miscommunications on somebody’s part. No way was it ever as cut and dried Thamel or The Driskell’s version.

His agent works for him. He does what Ludwig asks him to do and has the info Ludwig provides him. He represents him and stands in for him for negotiations, offers, and contracts. So Ludwig, OR THE AGENT HE PAYS TO REPRESENT HIMSELF, provided the contract. Swarbrick nor any other person at ND...

Under that scenario, yes, I agree with you. But we have to at least assume the bad info came from Ludwig. Ludwig is the only source possible for ND to have his contract to look over. It’s not on Swarbrick then if he’s being fed bad info. By Ludwig himself. I mean the buyout increased by almost...

This. And why would Swarbrick allow ND to let the world know they flew in a guy from SLC on a PJ, wined and dined him for 48 hours, then balked? Seems like they would end up with egg all over ALL their faces, not just Freeman's. Or, what I'm betting is actually the case, there's more to the...

Assuming Parker doesn't even want the job, then I want him even less.

I have a hard time believing that if Andy Reid or Kyle Shannahan wanted to be OC's at ND, but their buyout was 2.8, and ND supposedly had a person ready to pay it, they would pass. I think the refusal on the buyout was tied specifically to Ludwig and his OL coach. I think they felt the...

ND didn't hire Golden until around this time last year. The Ravens had been without an OC for weeks. They made their hire yesterday. Georgia lost their OC yesterday. I get that the timeline has not been ideal to replace these coaches, but to act like this isn't a fairly common occurrence...

He interviewed for the job. I would think he did, in fact, want it. Besides, he and MF are supposedly great buddies. I'm sure he's let it slip that he'd like to be an OC or a HC. Who is putting these guys in that position? Nobody is forcing them to coach at ND. They're accepting the jobs...

Next ND Offensive Coordinator - the search

Ok, fine. That would assume then that Freeman also never made him an offer himself or mentioned a salary to him either. I don't think that's the case. Or the best case scenario then was that Freeman was clueless in how offers are made, who makes them, who decides the salary, that he has an...

I assume. Since the story broke yesterday, the focus has been on Swarbrick and/or BoT. Some of that is warranted. But the report is that ND thought Ludwig's buyout was 450k, when it was in fact 2.8million. Couldn't Ludwig, or his agent, have possibly given ND bad info? Other reports are...

Again, it's on the administration....and Andy Ludwig and Marcus Freeman. Andy Ludwig gave ND a copy of his contract. The Driskell report that they had a copy of the old contract would lie on Ludwig. And in all this time Ludwig and MF spent together, MF never once had the clue to ask him, "hey...

Freeman may be gone anyway in 2 years. Swarbrick having nothing to do with it. If Swarbrick is making the decisions on assistant coaches (and that is an awfully big assumption to begin with), then why would he tell Freeman he can only hire his buddies? Swarbrick thinks so little of Freeman...

ND poised to have their best season since 1993. The QB coach/OC leaves as well as the OL coach. MF replaces them by promoting underwhelming Gerard Parker as OC, underwhelming Gino Guidugli as QB coach, and undeserving Chris Watt as OL coach. Their only links are that they know Marcus...

If memory serves, Swarbrick was the guy who made Burnt Ends finally fire Longo and BVG. If it weren't for Swarbrick, Burnt Ends may have continued his gettin' the band back together reunion.

MF has other options too. Andy Ludwig isn't the only guy on the planet that could have been the OC. The options aren't Ludwig or Parker/Gino. There are literally 50 other options out there comparable to Ludwig or Parker. Lucky made a nice post pointing this out a little while ago.
