I’m not certain either, but it’s unlikely. If they do pass us then we absolutely need Bama, Oklahoma, or Oregon to be upset or we are out of the playoffs. We really only need Oklahoma to struggle and win ugly, that’ll give the committee the ammo the need to drop them out instead.

I realize Miami won’t pass us up even if they look good, but is it too much to ask for a single game to go our way in the last three weeks? 😂 I mean, just one team needs to stumble, one. If we don’t make the playoffs it will be the most unlikely run of non-upsets in the history of CFB.

Honestly, I don’t think they are ignoring it. Imagine if the game were this coming weekend and ND & Miami were ranked as if week 1 did not happen. In this scenario ND is 10-1, likely ranked 5 or 6 and Miami is 8-2, and likely ranked 22 or 23. Then imagine they play the game this Saturday night...

Agree with all of this but will add one: OU wins close against LSU and ND stomps Stanford, I think the committee swaps them at 8 and 9 and puts OU at risk of losing their spot in a doomsday scenario.

I really do not think Miami is the concern anymore. If ND gets left out it will be because TT loses the Big 12 title game and Alabama wins the SEC. If that happens, there is a good chance we are left out unless the committee moves us ahead of Oklahoma.

After watching that game, I can see a world where both Bama and OU are behind us. It was not a convincing performance by either team. I could definitely see ND, OU, Bama at 8, 9, 10.

Most years I might agree, but next year is a high-potential NC year. Assuming Love and Price move on, MF will bring in at least one proven P4-level stud. I have no doubt our depth is good/great, but would be crazy not to add an elite talent.
