Ok, why would BYU drop at all in the rankings if they lose?

If that were the case (for the gambling contingent) wouldn't our odds of making the playoffs basically be swapped with Miamis?

I just thought of something that I don't know the answer to. What if JMU loses and Duke wins and there isn't a 5th conference with a ranked champion? Is that possible or do they just keep ranking up to 30 or 35 or whatever to find that next champion?

Listening to Dinich on Dusty and Danny on Sirius. The double standard for the CCG is so dumb its funny. On one hand, the rhetoric is Bama may not drop with a loss. But BYU could drop behind Miami with a loss. Also, they questioned how far the Big 10 champ loser may drop. You cant make this stuff up.

CFP 2024 W/L records by conference: Big 10: 6-3 SEC: 2-3 ACC: 0-2 Big 12: 0-1 G5: 0-1 ND: 3-1 ND had more CFP wins in the inaugural 12 team playoff than the SEC, ACC, Big 12, and G5 combined. And all these conferences are trying to say ND doesn't belong...fuck them.

Also should be noted, conferences make a lot of money from their conference championship games. Unless or until those are replaced by more CFP games (which seems likely over the next couple years), the power conferences will do everything in their power to protect the conference championship...

The committee currently has ADs from all 4 power 4 conferences - SEC (Arkansas) Big 10 (Nebraska), ACC (Virginia), and Big 12 (Utah). Also ADs from Miami, OH and MTSU. Its not hard to imagine lobbying and jockeying from conferences to include their teams in any way possible. There is tangible...

The SEC had 10 teams ranked in the preseason poll. That is 10 out of 16 teams in conference RANKED at the beginning of the year. All these ranked wins the SEC claim are a byproduct of overleveraged preseason polls. Beating Tennessee or Missouri is only different than beating Iowa or Washington...

Its hard to not keep going back to this - ND is one of a handful of teams capable of winning a championship and a legitimate contender. If ND somehow doesn't make it in the field, then the system is broken.

They can disrespect ND all they want. It will just motivate this team more.

I actually don't believe Vegas has any idea what this committee is going to do. There are certain things Vegas is good at predicting and some they arent.

Those humans have to pick the most deserving and/or best teams to fill out a 12 team bracket with very little objective criteria. Except metrics, which pretty much universally agree ND is better than Oklahoma. Deserving? Best? How do we know what they'll do?
