All these schools need to stop thinking “splash” hires and start thinking “smart” hires. Was Clark Lea a splash hire? Was Mike Elko? Cignetti?? How are they feeling right now? How is North Carolina feeling after the splash? I would be trying to find a Clark Lea. This is football not diving.

He didn’t pick those coordinators. Swarbrick intervened and hired Elko and Long, Lea was an obvious pick after Elko. If that is his claim to fame he sucks worse than even I thought!

Both are situations where he decides to insert himself into the play too much aka getting too cute. Line up, pin your ears back, and keep doing what you do. Stop trying to outsmart everyone and just out play them.

I believe the team is getting better every week at a faster pace than the coordinators. They have not done the team many favors this season.

My comment is less about Riley and more about Denbrock. I also like CJ Carr. 90% of my original post was about the defensive coordinatorthe remainder was about the offensive coordinator’s calls this year. It is not a QB comparison. Keep up.

Watched Coach Freeman’s press conference today and with regard to the QB competition came away with the feeling that naming CJ feels a lot like the hiring of Coach MF himself. There were other guys, but in the moment…both guys are 11’s on the competitive scale, both are walking into pretty good...
