But Bama does? Miami does? IU does? Thats the problem
No not at all. I 100% disagree with those bullshit rankings we should be top 6. but imo if we lose another game we underachieved compared to how good we all thought this team would be. Also if we lose another game I don't see us as good enough to win the championship anyway

Beat Miami we are a lock for top 5. End of the day it’s not who you lose to it’s who you beat and we haven’t beaten anyone. We beat #16 USC last year and still didn’t get in with two losses.

Yeah this is sort of where I’m at now. Either move to a system with divisions with winners and rules about who gets into a playoff or go back to the BCS with computers determining things. This is a total farce

I watch college football on Saturdays, and then I watch the NFL on Sundays. They play the same sport, but you can just tell how much more organized and standardized the NFL is.

Indiana doesn’t make any sense then. They have no good wins, have looked mediocre against everyone the past month and lost to the only good team they’ve played. It makes no sense.

The issue is it doesn’t have to make sense because there isn’t any accountability. The committee can protect the conferences even when there’s no justifying it, and no one will hold their feet to the fire about it.
Agreed. It was best wins for the middle and then almost ignored that Miami, Utah and Indiana don’t have good wins. Basically who did you beat unless you’re atop a conference standings.

Ultimately, freeman needs to win out. Going into this season, no way would anyone be happy with 10-2. No excuse with this schedule and the amount of talent on the roster/money spent. The Irish lose on Saturday, big changes need to be made to the staff.

And just remember - any time we aren’t in the playoff means one of these conferences gets an extra share of the pie. They’ll try to keep us out however they can, every time.

BYU and the Big 12 literally didn’t let us finish a game to make sure we got that first loss. Can’t wait to see the shenanigans the ACC refs get up to on Saturday. We just need to kick Miami’s teeth in to not allow it to matter.
If this team showed up this conversation wouldn’t happen. But they didn’t so it is.

At least we know it truly is win and in this weekend now. I sort of figured that was the case, but this lays it bare. We told them not to fuck around with our placement like they did last year and they took that to heart I guess.

I just hate ESPN and what they’ve done to this sport, and I hate that they can get away with it and nothing will happen. The SEC doesn’t have 5 of the top 10 teams in the country, but ESPN will tell us they do

Fortunately conferences won't really matter anymore with the 24 team playoff. That's the only good thing about it from ND's perspective

I see half our board has been brainwashed by ESPN too. Its not about "ND left doubt", "gotta win our games"...its about applying consistent analytic parameters to the rankings.
Thank you. I’m losing my mind at all these people playing along with the ESPN spun narrative. We can be annoyed we didn’t beat BYU when we should have, and be pissed this sport has gone to shit

Even systems like Colley that have us lower that don’t use priors and just use SOS W/L records are not a close match.

IMO they 100% purposefully distanced from popular systems/AP Poll. This removes being tethered to something that when in the late stages you will look moronically corrupt to suddenly change. Basically it’s better to start rigged and see if it works itself out, then be lazy and then rig it at the end.

The committee is not being consistent with their parameters.

ND also did leave doubt and must win big games so we don't give them the opportunity to shaft us (moot point after this year).

Both are completely true statements.

Previous rankings were lazy and closely mirrored a combo of the AP Poll and BCS style power ratings blend. It caused traps that had to be explained out of in an embarrassing fashion. This year they’ve chosen to purposely distance from everything I can find, and basically rank best wins, ignore all losses for now.

SEC sorts itself out and gets 5. 100% chance.
Big 12 sorts itself out and gets 2. 100% chance.
G6 gets one. 100% chance.

ND/ACC have to prove a second bid vs the Big Ten’s third bid.

Beat Miami.
So this year the PC is relying on intuition?

See,

We are 5/6 in the AP/Coaches. This group of 12 people has us 5-6 spots lower than those polls. How on earth could anyone think this is a good or acceptable system. The BCS system should be in play. At least that’s an average of several different polls/metrics. Not the opinion of a group of people who are financially motivated.

Ivan Maisel (committee member) is going to be on campus. I ask again why the University would have him on campus to help him profit off of his book, when he is absolutely involved in screwing the team.
