Is Brian Jean Mary a good hire? From wiki he was LB coach for Michigan when they cheat/won. They’ve had good Df for 5 years so must be okay.

Per the II pod, Landow is as good as gone
Lmaoooo your listening comprehension must be completely different than mine.

He will be a target for both the Raiders and the Cardinals, I expect he will be gone but it's not a foregone conclusion as of now.

Would be a shame as I like him, but they'll replace him quickly.

Crazy how elongated the coach hiring cycle is getting. It was still September when the first head coaches were getting fired. Here it is nearly mid-February and we might be looking for an S&C.

Also Landow going would be shitty but we still have the guy with the dreds who filled in for months after Balis left. There’s continuity there, at least.

The good thing is that the media has been reporting for 3+ weeks that Landow could be leaving for the NFL. If they know, it also means that Freeman and the ND administration already know, allowing them to have already been working in the background to fill the role quickly and to create a high quality transition plan in the meantime, given the critical time of year for S&C. At least this wasn't sprung on the staff quickly. There should be little, if any, break in ND's off season S&C regimen.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the listening comprehension, they certainly didn’t imply it was a foregone conclusion.

It's not just Landow. With the nature of the coaching business, I think it's fair to assume MF has some type of succession/retention plan and works on this with some regularity, not just when a coach leaves. I would be surprised if he doesn't have a list of names for every position and is somewhat familiar with their background before a search even starts.

Quite a few were afraid of a drop off when Balis left and flat out didn't like the Landow hire, yet here we are going through the same motions just like when Harry, Golden and others left. Trust in MF. Things seem to work out for the guy.

On the Irish Illustrated podcast today they said that apparently Landow is telling people he is planning on staying at ND.
Awesome. Listened to him on a podcast and he seems like a cool dude. Said he sees coaching athletes as an act of service, which I thought was really cool.

Texas and Sarkisian can’t miss again; why NDSU’s jump to FBS makes sense: Mandel’s Mailbag

Case in point: Bobby Hauck. Montana’s accomplished coach abruptly “retired” last week at 61, and said, “Dealing with what college football has become is not always enjoyable as a head coach.” Illinois’ Bret Bielema hired him as his new defensive coordinator, where last year’s coordinators, Barry Lunney Jr. and Aaron Henry, were rarely on the road recruiting.

Anyone know what the story is here?
