Really good read, I love how Martin talks, he doesnt do copy and paste answers, he gives pretty genuine responses. I like to think we are stacked at the TE position. After Eifert, we could have one or two GREAT TEs in the waiting. Koyack was highly rated and Niklas has all the measurables of being an elite TE... looking at 3 possible studs with Welch being no slacker himself.

This line - "personnel's for fans and media. Like, if Eifert's flexed out is he a Y or a Z? I don't know, you can call him whatever you want. He's just playing there, you know." - reflects the thing I like most about our offense.

Whether its tight ends or slot/rb hybrids, they're putting the best talent on the field and letting it do its thing. Gives you so many options.

The coaches did not show the 2012 offense in the Blue and Gold Game.

Alex Welch is not only not a slacker, but he is ahead of where the last tight end that went to his high school and played at Notre Dame was. The only setback was Welch's infection in his foot last year. I was told by a family member it was MRSA. ND fans, let alone Alex are lucky he even has a foot, let alone that he is back playing this year!

We did get to see Eifert split out wide for a couple different plays during the Spring Game, but I'm just imagining the scenarios we can run out utilizing the entire playbook this season. Imagine a defense that needs to prepare for a formation where you have Eifert and Niklas/Welch/Koyack on the line and each splits off. And really, that's only one basic formation adjustment. These guys have the skill set to be so dangerous. It's going to bring a whole new element to our offense that will really help us in the more challenging games, like Oklahoma, USC, and Michigan. I'm pumped to see it.

I'm seeing a 4 tight end formation.
Eifert can spit out wide and we can run anything out of that formation.
Power runs or play action teams to death.

Add a QB who can run if everybody is covered, and a defensive coordinator will have a migraine.
