Today at 1 PM on ESPN3. Should be a good game, ND is 3-2 all time against Duke with our two losses coming in the championship game in '10 and the quarterfinals of '11.
It will be a shock to me if ND beats Duke today. ND is replacing 5 MLL draft picks and, to make matters worse, expected defensive starter Jake Brems (who had played a lot of lacrosse for us over the past 3 years) blew out his knee before the season. So we're going to be playing the barred none most talented top-to-bottom team in the country (seriously, they're a lot better than UVa) while still likely trying to find our sea legs with a lot of new pieces. The encouraging thing is that this off season our offense looked the best it has looked in awhile. We torched Navy and Air Force for 17 goals a piece in fall scrimmages and also were semi-effective against Jacksonville notching 12 goals. In a controlled scrimmage against Team USA, our defense looked pretty good but our offense did not look nearly as good as Denver's.... so it'll be interesting to see today how we attack Duke and if Duke goes to their sissy zone defense that they used in the playoffs last year. The one single advantage we have over Duke is in the cage where John Kemp is significantly better than Dan Wigrizer. If Kemp has a big game and we win a majority of the faceoffs we could have a shot.
Here's a pretty good primer for the season:

So tune in at 1 PM... hopefully it's a good game.
