Question for those that make Highlight Videos

Where do you get the clips from and how do you do it? Do you rip the footage off of youtube? A website? How?

You can download full games from different torrent sites. The only problem with that is that the government shut quite a few of them down. You just have to do a little searching to find them.

I have missed out on a couple UFC's and NBA games. Stupid government!

I mostly get them from Torrent websites. There are still a few that haven't shut down. Haven't made a highlight video in awhile though, so maybe there are new methods.

kickasstorrents.com has a bunch of games on it and "youtube downloader" lets you take video from youtube.

You can also get yourself a DVD recorder with a hard-drive and record the games live then firewire the footage into your editing program. I tried to do that with my Comcast DVR but it won't let you retrieve what's on it's hard drive.

I just download the videos right from youtube. I probably have a hundred different youtube videos of ND highlights clogging my hard drive. When I edit them I have to be careful to make sure that it's my own work, and that the sequence of plays and clips I use don't match the video I'm taking the clips from.

there used to be a football only torrent site called tenyardtorrents where you could download NFL/NCAA/High school games and then shows like 4th and Long, Hard Knocks, NFL films etc. not sure if its still going in any incarnation but have a look for it.
