Based on the fact that I probably wasted a few weeks of my life reading about kids who now play for schools I either hate (OSU, USC) or could care less about (FSU, Houston, Stanford), I have developed two rules to protect my time and sanity...

(1) Don't read about a recruit until he commits; and
(2) If a Commit visits other schools, stop reading about him until NSD or early enrollment.*

I wonder if I can maintain? I hope so; I would much rather waste my life reading about the actual team.

* I guess you could have some ind of exception for kids that stop visiting schools and definitively re-commit in some circumstances.

Good luck man.. Maybe there's an app you can download that shocks you with tiny amounts of electricity through the keyboard every time you open an un-committed recruits thread. I think I would need something like that in order to pull it off.

I heard about a weight loss system where you set a certain number of times to go to the gym every month and then enter a contract to let a company withdraw a certain amount of money from your account every time you skip one of those visits. The money goes in a pool and is divided among all the people who didn't skip that month. Maybe something like that.

Good luck with that. I was going to take 2 weeks off after NSD and here I am already. Sad, really sad.

here are a couple more suggestions that might help as well...

(3) Never...never interact with a recruit using any form of social media. The outcome can only go bad.
(4) Understand that Urban Meyer is going over anyone committed to ND and trying to pick off the ones that will help him and/or hurt ND. He did it at FLA, and has done it at OSU. Targeting ND's recruits is a priority for him

Just keep reminding yourself that no matter how closely you follow recruiting, in the long run, it doesn't matter or change anything.
