Continuity is important. Article says he has a long-standing relationship with Diaco and Cooks, DC and CB coach respectively. I like that aspect.

I think Elliot is the type of hire that has the extensive knowledge to help coach up all of our DBs. I'm sure he will only make Cooks an even better CBs coach as they work together more and more. The small, subtle points of playing DB are what make guys great talents. If they have the physical tools and instincts these guys can make them elite. Super pumped about this defense.

Great hire, even though his Dad was a great player for Michigan. I assume that Coach Elliott will running the D meetings Oklahoma week.

Is it odd that Hiestand wasn't officially announced as the OL coach? It was over 10 days ago that people started reporting him to ND. Elliott's name only surfaced a few days ago, and yet he's officially announced. Just seemed sort of weird to me.

I asked the same thing yesterday and BGIF clarified it for me.

Hiestand and Elliott. Since the O'Leary resume fiasco, the ND background checking has become very deliberate and slow. They could use these two guys NOW to help close this class.

Kelly can mention Hiestand "joining" the staff but until he's on board offically (that includes the NCAA's rubberstamp that he's cleared for recruiting) he can't contact or visit recruits.

Makes it difficult to sway a kid on the fence when he can eyeball the other schools OL gurus but we have to hand him a resume to read.
