Yes, did he know that ND has the most fans in the country when he accepted the scholarship?
Did Tommy know that ND is on TV every week, National TV that is?
Did he see what Ron P, Brady Q, Jimmy C. went through?
Big players Rise. He hasn't. And this Soph. 19 year old stuff is just crap. he is a Soph in college. He has had 2 summers, 2 bowl games, 2 bowl 15 practices, spring ball and roughly 1.3 years of starting at ND.
If he can't handle it, get off.
That soph QB with 1 start coming into this year just had 7 TDs and 440 passing yards and almost upset the #12 Team.
There was a lot of fresh/soph QB's that did really good this year. Tommy just isn't one of them.
Seems like where starting to reach a bit doesn't it?
So is it his fault he's never taken out of games when he's obviously struggling? He was a three-star quarterback. Notre Dame was by far his best offer. Did he really think he'd be thrown into a fire like this when he commited?
Powlus, Quinn, Clausen... These guys were expected to come in and be amazing (and with all due respect they were). This was Rees' first post on his recruiting thread:
I guess I'm just saying take it easy on the kid. He's doing his best and it's not completely his fault.

I don't care about the talk about pressure, or the lights, or rransfers...the bottom line is that you have to recognize your weaknesses and work to resolve them. This did not happen this year. Being the starting QB at ND is no different from any place else, I'm tired of the holier than thou argument. Dude needs to watch film, get in a weight room and work his *** off if he wants to compete at a D1 elite level. It's as simple as that.
I love his moxie and demeanor, but he has his flaws. An elite quarterback recognizes those and works his tail off to eliminate them. That's what I expect from the starting quarterback at the University of Notre Dame.
I said it all along. We needed Gunner, but most of you were like, "No. No. We have Hendrix who did okay in the Stanford game. He's the future! BUT NOW!"
It's about time you guys stop relying on promise. Just cause someone looks like they have potential does not mean they will ever achieve it and it certainly doesn't mean they will do it right this moment.

This was a huge lost for this team. not just because the other players hat would follow but because if anyone watched last night our coached screwed us in the QB dept this year. IMO kelly took steps backwards this year in the caoching dept. I was excited when he got hired. I am not calling for him to get fired but something needs to change with "his offense".
Golson will start next year. Rees is done.
What position does Golston play?
I hope Rees transfers now make up BK mind for him! You can't manage games and be a successful college program! They need to find out if Golson is a star because that is what you need!
Since this is a thread about Tommy, I will say something I have been thinking all season. If you threw that kid in the ocean he would sink to the bottom immediately. Lead footed doesn't do him justice...I am convinced he is composed of ununoctium from the ankles down. I have never seen such an unathletic QB in my life. He doesn't/cant move his feet in the pocket, any time he rolls out he cant reposition his feet on the move to give himself any chance to make a meaningful throw. Any time he has to make a sudden movement or cut, he pretty much just trips over his own feet or falls over. On one level its almost humorous to watch. On another level it pisses me off to no end because in combination with his flutterballs into tight or double coverage, it has killed my beloved Irish all season long.

i totally agree with you about his footwork. If a pass rusher gets near him its gonna be a sack because he no chance of avoiding even the slowest of defenders. And when he rolls out you know hes just gonna wind up and attempt to throw out of bounds. Its been very depressing watching him play these last 1.5 seasons
