"We are being held from our checks because we chose not to participate in voluntary workouts," defensive back Randall Carroll wrote on Twitter. "Honestly, don't know how I'm going to eat these few days."

Linebacker Aramide Olaniyan also posted on Twitter account, saying in part "My stomach [is] growling tonight."

Funny part is that UCLA will be participating in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

But seriously though, I know for a fact that it is finals week for UCLA and to withhold checks for voluntary workouts is just dumb. Let the kids eat.

This sounds like one of those discipline decisions that sounds good until you do it, then not so much.

You know, "no play, no pay" until you realize these kids won't eat. Bet the checks are out now.

The workouts were mandatory, plus those players had not turned in their academic exit forms for the quarter, said UCLA spokesman Nick Ammazzalorso, who added that players were told that the checks would be withheld.

Sounds like it's going to be a he said/she said thing. But the players don't have much to stand on, if they didn't turn in their end of quarter paperwork and were also forewarned that they would not receive the checks.

Oh my goodness, you mean they're being held accountable?

They need to grab their tents and occupy the Murphy Sculpture Garden.
