Golic played great tonight, plowed the road nicely just about all game.

Agreed, I think he played great, I couldn't be happier. I'm just saying w the next man in mantra, ND held their own on both lines. Great to see.

Agree. Tommy Rees is NOT good. He's incredibly limited.

The thing for me, is I dont like that Rees is incredibly limited, but Im OK with it. What Im NOT OK with is how many open receivers he does not find, and how many times he turns it over. If he was not so limited I would be a little more receptive to those mistakes, but those mistakes compunded by his limitations is the problem I have.

People act like the kid is a savy QB who is making quick and correct decisions...he misses SOOOOOOO many reads, and makes way too many bad decisions. He has essentially a full season worth of starts under his belt now and is making those mistakes running an uber conservative playbook.

+1, whole O-line played decent but it was nice to see one of our backups step in at an important time and get it done.

So I say something along the lines as: I wasn't around but I'll go out on a limb... I then happen to be wrong, some 'decorated poster' calls my posts ignorant because I was in fact wrong and then I get accused of getting mad at him?

Then, I ask when I was mad and the unanimous response is "let it go" because I never actually said anything that seemed 'mad'.

Sounds about right, lol.

I'm done, I just hope I'm not the only one that notices this. Go Irish!

Agree 100%. I could live with a 'manager' at QB, but he's Rex Grossman without the arm.

I gave you an important stat...turnovers, you give me competion %s then say you're not open to making up my own shi*t not grounded in any of his statistics? Really dude, did you fall off your rocker? Go check out his stats against every quality team he has been our QB against. What do you have to support that he is our best chance to win? What not made up sh*t is that based on?

Was Dayne's first half against USF worse than Rees' first half today? How about his first half against Pitt? How about his first half against USC?

Michigan State is the #1 pass defense in the country. Rees' numbers?

18/26, 161, 1 TD, 1 INT.

That's not tearing them up, but it sure doesn't suck, either.

I brought up completion percentage because you made the contention that he throws a bunch of bad passes. 66% is an outstanding completion percentage, especially for a true sophomore, so that kind of belies your contention that he throws a bunch of bad passes.

The rest of the team probably has something to do with that....thats the most ridiculous argument out there.

It was a simple sentence I wrote in direct reply TO Joey Getherall's post. If HCTI doesn't have tenure on it, who does?

I made no comment on Tommy's abilities, did I?

Not our best statline ever, but I didn't realize we held Wake to under 300 yards. It seemed, at times, much more than that. Especially given the fact it was a night game in a tough high school atmosphere.

We didn't play great. That can't be disputed. But, we came out ahead.

I'm a fan of Rees, but he honestly didn't play very well today. The defense played very well in the second half, and the running game got going. I think the other qbs on the roster could have done just as well as Rees. I'm not saying he needs to be benched, just that it's kind of dumb to say he was the factor that thrusted this team to the win.

I hate getting involved in this discussion, but I will say one thing. The achilles heal of this team is the quarterback. Rees is a calm guy that understands the offense and gets the ball out quickly. He's not going to extend a play or consistently hit a deep out. He's going to continue to turn over the ball - he just needs to limit them. For now, that's what we have to live with. I think there is going to be a heated QB competition in the spring. I would not be surprised to see multiple QB packages for the first few games.

Rees doesnt play well but the dude is a gamer. Bash him all you want he doesn't ever throw up sexy numbers but dude is a gamer. 10-2 as a starter. Haters goin hate. Dude has won in Yankee Stadium, The Coliseum, Notre Dame Stadium, Heinz Field, Sun Bowl if it wasnt for a meltdown in the Big house. Rees gets it. You guys are unreal sometimes. 10-2 baby.

You know you want in... it's the ultimate pointless argument that can not be won.

That being said, I completely agree with your post.

He played as well as he ever does. The only truly great games were against two of the worst teams we played. 9 games and only 3 where he threw more TDs than INTs.

Rees certainly played poorly tonight. I don't think anyone suffers from any illusions about his limitations. He does plenty of things he'll never get credit for though, like his ability to switch to the right play at the line of scrimmage.

He is a gamer. That wouldn't be a good basis for arguing that he needs to be the starter going forward, but the kid is tough and even when he has struggled, he's usually done just enough to put us in a position to win almost every game he's played.

Hold us back from what? We don't offer nearly enough resistance, generate enough pressure, or force enough turnovers defensively for us to be elite or even substantially better overall than we are now.
