Bye week was productive because they got to see more out of the younger players. Also were able to rest some of the veterans.

Had a great practice yesterday.

Te'o played against Air Force on a less than 100% ankle but is ready.

EJ is still not 100% ready but will still play.

Daniel Smith is back also

Always felt running the spread if you are not able to run the ball then you have to take the TE off the field. Not what he wants to do.

The players that were already here allowed Kelly to get a good group of RB's together.

If Manti wasn't here already, Kelly may have gone after Robert Woods harder. (Laughing).

But they would still have been heavy defense recruiting. They just look for the needs for this team

It is not a great rivalry if you are not able to win games. There was no change in the players demeanor after last years win. They just want to make it a real rivalry by winning.

It was a good road win last year thats what matters the most.

Cave is a different player from last year, a much better player.


The OL have all collectively improved, which is showing on the field.

USC has a specific scheme they would like to implore.

They got up on Cal and forced them to throw.

Monte Kiffin definitely has an influence on the defense.

If USC gets up on a team they will be difficult to rally against.

Barkley has the big play threat down the field. That is what they notice from last year to this year.

That is what ND looks to do with their offense.

Wasn't sure about Eiferts physical ability last year because of his back problems.

But physically he is in great shape and can go all day. He has become one of the best TE's in the country.

He decided he wanted to be great and has shown it.

Never had an experience like Harbaugh and Schwartz but definitely would not have run after Harbaugh

Kelly didn't take the Swarbick comment about noise as some have took it. He took it as the comment aimed at the students.

The team needs to get the crowd into it by playing good football. It is something that they want to establish to have a good program.

Certaintly if you are able to spread out the recruits at the game it would have been great but this game is a great opportunity.

It's primetime TV. They will do what they can to pay as much attention to all the recruits as possible.

For ND they want to get into a BCS game so every game is important, but if they beat USC and lose to Navy the USC means nothing.

Its not as big as KIffin makes it out to be for ND

They don't need to hype the USC game to the players, they already know because of the history.

The coaches don't make much about it, they just prepare the players for it.

Haven't checked with the wardrobe designer with what they will wear for the game, they will get back on Thursday about what they will wear. NOT!!!!

Playing at night helps manage the meetings Kelly has with recruits. So it helps.

Each coach feels comfortable about what they can give during the season towards recruiting. But preparation for a game is more important

Entertwined the ESPN interviews with recruiting but it was more about getting to see recruits.

No one said it was in his job description to make so many appearances in public but he wants to, to get ND out there more.

Being around the game like Rees has been growing up allows him to be able to manage his emotions in all aspect of the game. No matter the environment.

When Kelly talks to parents specifically dads who played before it is not about playing time but what they look for out of the ND program in general.

Right now football is in that trendy time of wearing "cool" uniforms. He wants his players to feel like they are part of mainstream by wearing cool uniforms. It is about balance, he doesn't want to change every week but a change up here and there is not bad.
