One last desperate attempt by me to add a dimension to the "why did Coach go with Tommy?" Aeternal Mystery: Kelly has already told us why and told us several times why Dayne's not in there. To decipher this, you have to listen to what Coach immediately says when asked what he sees in Tommy.

He says things like: "natural understanding of offense and the game"; he says "toughmindedness" and "leadership"; he says "he'll make a mistake but won't let it bother him the next play". The point is NOT what he's telling you about Tommy, but what he's telling you about DAYNE.

Kelly is not going to say such things [in the negative] attached to Crist's name---there is NO positive gain under any category in doing that--- but listen to the man: listen to the context especially earlier when reporters were trying to get Coach to compare the two. Kelly IS telling us that there's more to his decision than the first half of the USF game.

"For those who have ears to hear, hear."
WOW! FINALLY!! Somebody is able to not only understand but explain what he and a-lot of us already do understand!!! Only you put it in a way not too many could!!!! THANK-YOU

How close are you to giving Crist another chance? I think he at least deserves some snaps, I mean come on, the guy only threw one interception and everyone is blowing up over it. I think Kelly just wants the guy he recruited to start getting time just so that he can say that he is winning with his guys, not Charlie's.

There's an old axiom that says, "Better to be though a fool, then to speak up and remove all doubt." Congratulations on proving it's substance.

Not everybody here is a recruitaholic but only about a week ago a list of the current ND QBs and their commitment dates was posted in the Crist v Rees thread. Crist, Rees, and Hendrix, ALL committed to Weis. Even walkon Matt Mulvey who took the victory snap against Purdue came to ND in the Weis era. As did former perferred walkon QB Nate Montana. Kelly's only QB commits are Massa, now a WR, and Golson, who you probably would know as Gholston, and who hasn't seen the field to date. Kelly's currently got a modest 3 game winning streak going and has won 7 of the last 9 with Charlie's guys at QB.Brian Kelly is 11-7 at ND and all the QBs who have played for him to date were Charlie's QBs.

The Purdue was a big game for Tommy Rees, thankfully we had no turnovers. I have thought Danye Crist had gotten a bum wrap, but as long as Tommy keeps winning its his job to lose. I would liked to have seen Danye Crist play earlier in the Purdue game than he did.

There's already a thread (or 3) on this, and worse than that, the OP's premise about him being a Kelly recruit has already been debunked and laughed out of the building. Closed.
