If he can significantly cut down the turnovers, Rees will be a very good QB, considering everything else he has done. He's completed 66.4% of his passes, 70% during the first 3 games, and moved the ball well. That is incredible accuracy. Playing QB is also more than merely throwing the ball and making plays. Half of the importance of the QB position involves decisions made between plays. Rees has often made pre-snap reads and adjustments which resulted in big runs. The younger guys simply are not ready to do so. Tommy understands the cerebral part of the game which is extremely difficult for many players to pick up. Again, his high amount of turnovers is very troubling and unacceptable, but he does many other things well. We've averaged 423.5 yds/game without beating up on any cupcakes. If Tommy can cut out a few of the turnovers, you're looking at us having one of the best offenses in country.

Clausen hands down.

Quinn had a running game, decent line, and a decent defense.
Rees has a very good running game, good line, and a great defense (as of now)
Clausen had no run game, not a good line, and the worst defenses i have seen....yet we were in every game.

Quinn would be more of game manager in the spread as he was in Charlies. Quinn had a decent deep ball, but as he does now struggles with accuracy. I feel that Kelly would run the same type of offense with him as he does Rees where everything is within 17 yards with more read option with quinn being a little more athletic. I think itd be more of a west coast out of the spread.

Clausen would put up at least 4500 yards in the spread. Accuracy and his deep ball would stretch the field to ridic measures. As in Charlies, the deep ball would be thrown at least a couple times per half. It would be very exciting to watch Clausen throwing into coverages that didnt involve 8-9 guys like he did with a run game established lol.

Rees---hes still learning. Yet he is making progress. I mean he hasnt even played 10 games yet and ND Nation wants him to be Clausen. Not going to happen in less than a year. He had a terrible first half saturday, yet cameback and won the game in the 2nd half. He isnt going to be Clausen/Quinn but he will win more games than they did if he ends up starting for another year or two. He does what he has to do to win. Ken Dorsey comes to mind when I think of Rees. Not going to blow you away with his arm, makes good decisions, has a great D, and athletes around him on O.

I agree. If Clausen had the ball with two minutes left and we were within one score, we always had a chance. The Stanford game his last year says it all: D let Stanford score so Clausen would have an opportunity. His 9:1 TD to INT ratio was unreal.

Every time I think of what Clausen would do in this offense I skeet in my pants.

This is all that needs to be said.

I mean even last year, with Clausen and Tate. Holy freakin' hell that'd have been something. They would've won 11 games.

I do not agree with this. Rees does not consistently make good decisions. Here and there, yes. But overall, no.

Clausen.

Easily the most talented of the three quarterbacks, and as stated above had a mediocre line, no running game, and no defense to work with.

Quinn had accuracy problems and was absolutely horrible against quality teams during his senior year.

Rees hasnt looked great that fumble in Michigan man that was bad. This kid has beat out mr. 5 star crist , beat U.S.C,Won A bowl game And we would be 3and 1 if he had started all the games.

It's not that farfetched. He had 3700 yards his junior year without a bowl game and on an injured foot which affected a bit of playing time. Sure 4500 is high but not impossible

Very doubtful it wasn't the Qb's fault for the fumble the ruin the first drive. And Rees still threw 2 INTs. and we are 2-1 this year with him.

I give Tommy a pass, he's not doing anything right now that isn't expected from most true Sophomores. He may be a little more turnover prone than your average Sophomore, but not by much. He has it where it counts though, he can lead a game winning drive if he needs to. He nearly brought us back against South Florida, he got the TD we needed against Michigan (Defense just crumbled), and he got the drive we needed against Pitt. He's a gamer, and he's still young. Clean up just 1 TO a game and he's in good shape. He's proven he can find other receivers besides Floyd, and he's shown it in other games besides Pitt...USC was one last year.

The most important thing is would take rees in a big game over any of the last 5star Clausen , Quinn and or Crist. He beat U.S.C and beat a real team in a bowl.

I'd like to issue an open apology for my behavior after the game last Saturday.

After reviewing the game in all aspects, the team fought like hell. We can't expect to go in to every game and dominate, even when we have them out manned in nearly every position like PITT.

We never stopped fighting, our D played like champions, and even though we all know Tommy isn't the 'QB of the future,' we can all agree that he never gives up and comes through in some pretty clutch situations.

I said some silly things in the heat of the moment on Saturday that in retrospect were pretty damn dumb. I questioned BK's coaching, I lambasted Tommy. Looking back we got in a dogfight and we pulled it out. We're doing the best we can with what we have at QB and he comes through when we need him.

We all know how bad teams like PITT want to beat ND, especially on their home turf. It can make a sub par season seem a lot more palatable for them. We didn't let that happen.

Just fight guys. That's all I've asked, and they're doing it.

I think what we're all forgetting is that EG is a "true" freshman still, and there is zero reason to waste a year of his elligibility. We have our starter (Rees), and the best backup QB in the country (Crist), and by the time they are done EG will be finally ready. The staff knows what they are doing with this kid, and there is no reason to waste a year.

I'm not a big fan of Tommy's, especially the TO's, but I am a huge fan of this team and doing whatever it takes to win ball games. BK, et al know how to do that.
