Just saw this on ISD... supposedly the Michigan jerseys have numbers on the front that do not comply with NCAA rules.

Numerals. Clearly visible, permanent Arabic numerals on one jersey at
least 8 and 10 inches in height front and back, respectively, of a color(s)
in distinct contrast with the jersey. All players of a team shall have the
same color and style numbers front and back. The individual bars must
be approximately 1-1/2 inches wide. Numbers on any part of the uniform
shall correspond with the mandatory front and back jersey numbers.

Thoughts?

Non-story IMO. For one, trying to use this would be the weakest move imaginable. For two, my guess is the teams/athletic administrations are well aware and waived or whatever the requirement.

Riddickulous had mentioned the legality, or lack thereof, in the original throwback jersey thread. Something about the size of the letters needing to be 8-10 inches long on the front. At the time, wasnt sure of the exact rule. Interesting though, but dont think its a big deal.

Michigan received approval from the NCAA for these jerseys. Case closed.

As long as ND's coaching staff can adequately identify Michigan players, I can't imagine what kind of advantage they might gain by it.

I'm sure that the NCAA AND Notre Dame signed off on the jerseys if there were any issues.

I think this was brought up when the jerseys were first unveiled...

Don't really care personally, and I think if ND DID care, they would have brought it to the NCAA's attention where something would have been done about it (if it were not kosher).

Yeah I don't care at all either. I think if it was something serious it wouldn't have ever been approved. But thought it was interesting (title was supposed to have a ? in it).

Let's assume, for karma's sake, that the size does NOT comply ;0)
