I had the pleasure of briefly talking to Desmond at the BCS NCG this year, and he seemed like a pretty easy-going, personable guy. Kind of shocks me he would be whining about getting his jersey retired after seeing how he presented himself to the general public.

The rest of the ESPN panel besides Chris Fowler (Saban and Meyer), were very cold to fans.

To be fair he was asked the question, he didn't bring it up.

Q: should your number be retired?
A: yes

I'll agree that he came off as arrogant, but if you're going to retire numbers in Michigan history 21, 2, and 98 would be the ones to do.

I don't know about you, but I hit that.

It was like throwing a book down the hallway...

or like throwing a hotdog on the back of a pick up truck.....

as far as howard. he maybe arrogant, but he's got a point. like him or not, he was a great college player.

Saban in particular is supposed to be an epic *******. I had a professor who worked for him when he was an assistant at Michigan State. He said Saban was literally the meanest person he'd ever met in his life.

We were sitting one row ahead of where the ESPN booth was set up, and drunk 'Burn fans kept climbing the railing to yell obscenities at Saban, it was hilarious. One got booted though after doing it during the telecast after the game. Guess cussing out Saban was worth more to him than seeing Chizik hoist a tainted piece of crystal lol.

“I believe it’s time, without a shadow of a doubt,” the former wide receiver and kick returner said. “It’s just a huge honor. For what I do, traveling around I see a lot of players at other schools with jerseys retired who have not accomplished what I have."

If Desmond Howard's head were any bigger he could lead the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The mere mention of his name makes me want to vomit.

Much to do about nothing really. He just has questions about the QB competition and Floyd.

He goes on to say that Kelly is the right fit and can bring the Irish back.

Agreed.

How many posts are there here about who's the QB, the status of Floyd, Kelly's fit, and are the Irish really on the road back?

ND will be a competitive team if we have a solid QB (whatever his name) from Game 1 - even without Floyd. With a solid QB AND Floyd, the Offense will ROCK. If Cierre puts the wood into USF with a 100 yd game ...

But right now they're all IFs.

Fair enough.

Any school that retires numbers should retire a Heisman winner's, particularly the guy they modeled the statue after.

Guess who just picked South Florida to upset ND this weekend on ESPN this morning?...Claimed that ND is probably overlooking South Florida and is focused on the Michigan game too much...Wow I hate this guy.

I think he should let his play do the talking. His name is forever immortalized by his Heisman season, if he had a good enough career at scUM they would get to it soon enough.

I think that Michigan should retire his number and that every football team including, college, Pros and HS should also out of respect for the biggest opening between the glutei.
I heard that he had an hemorrhoid operation so he would be a perfect .......!

Nice- lets just call him helium head from now on. By the way I think my local little league should retire my #4. I wonder if desmond thinks his pee wee football team should retire that # also. Gimme a break when you have to state your case of importance-your not very important.
