We need to start beating them regularly...

This year will be their last competitive year with us for the next four to five years- at the least, IMHO.

With Harbaugh gone, and Luck going pro after this season, you will see a decline that is inevitable.

They will field a tough defense due to great pick-ups the last few years though...

Boooooooooo pick someone new to play. How bout a team that plays in a conference that has an S, maybe and E, or even a C in it.

I like it. This is going to be an important game to win each year, so ND can clearly differentiate itself as a football program. Stanford is just as attractive a destination as Notre Dame for the true student athletes, if not more so.

Therefore, ND needs to capitalize on this opportunity to demonstrate to prospective recruits that if they want an elite education and an elite football experience, there is only one choice: Notre Dame.

On my Christmas list for this year, the Irish smack the Cardinal in the mouth in Palo Alto.

I totally totally agree with this. This is why it is a great matchup....kids wants academics and a good football program....for the most part Stanford and ND top this list for this....we keep beating Stanford year in year out it would entice them more to come to ND...so hopefully this means we won't be having to fight Stanford for elite recruits which is crazy to say.

As for the SEC matchups.....why don't we matchup with them? The last one I can think of is Tennessee with Brady Quinn and Co.

This is the warm weather game that alternates with SC. I think this game is important because it extends our presence into California every year. That is an important market for us to play in. More important than Florida, in some ways. With Florida we can get a game anywhere in the southeast and still have a recruiting impact.

Yes.

The year Andrew Luck leaves is the year Stanford starts declining as a football program.

But as for that defense, they're landing some great recruits and are going to have a pretty solid unit next year. Their LB corps in particular is excellent. Several NFL prospects.

Defense wins championships. That being said, a team has to score to win....
