Well, we HOPE he's "new man Mike" on the alcohol front. I had a friend who was an angry drunk and it was the only time that he was a bad guy --- actually a great guy all other times. When he drank he'd lose his brains [quite a feat since he was in the process of earning his PhD in organic chemistry.] One particular evening he was out with me and two other of his best friends, got just warmly soused, and threatened to fight all three of us at the same time. When we pointed out to him that this would be a bad move on all sorts of measurements, he laughed and said that it wouldn't be fair because he had two arms and two legs and there were only three of us. Several thoughts went through our minds about removing a few of those appendages, but we retained our own sanity and somehow talked him down.
I mention this because someone on this board mentioned that Michael can be an angry drunk. If he licks the alcohol thing then I believe that he'll be not only a great ballplayer but a guy who represents himself and Notre Dame well. That's why I root for him. Not the fancy catches as much as wanting to see him grow up. Notre Dame can win without Michael Floyd. Michael Floyd probably cannot win without Notre Dame.
