....But the f'n Mavs? When did Dirk Nowitzki get so freakin sick? Gotta respect that sloppy, ugly, German J.
Dirk Diggler has always been an awesome offensive player, its his defense and toughness that some ppl have questioned in the past. But he has shown that you can build a team around that guy. I have always liked Dirk as a player, and strangely it hasnt to 'sports-hate' now he is beating my team.
....As for the Lakers, they don't look old, they just look awful. Kobe and Bynum alone will not win you any games. Gasol needs to wake up, Odom needs to wake up, the bench needs to stop getting their asses handed to them, and Fisher needs to give us something....
No help defense either, its embarassing to watch. Fisher cant give anymore, he is giving all he has
(thats part of the problem). Any penetrating PG can devastate the Lakers. They have nothing to stop a slashing/penetrating PG
(admittingly, that has been the case for a few years). When they dont help on defense they end up giving blow-by layups to dudes like JJ Barera.
(if you remember in the finals vs. BOS in 08, ray allen had a few blow-bys in that series, and one blow-by he had sealed the deal in that series)
Dont get me started on Ron Artest, what a freakin idiot. Depending on his suspension, its
possible he has played his last game as a Laker.
Something else that was infuriating me while I watched the game was the officiating. I grew watching 80's-90's playoff basketball where if you were getting layup after layup, someone was getting rocked. for instance, LeBron would have been put on his *** after going to rack so many times. Do you think Kevin Mchale, or Moses Malone would have kept allowing these guys to get to the rack without getting slammed? no way. They would have rotated
(help defense) on him, and delivered a message that layups arent coming easy. Last night, I saw Gasol get man handled on one end of the court,
(the sequence where he missed 2 layups ala Charles Smith, and Bynum finaly cleaned it up - gasol was totally fouled on his 2nd rebound/attempt, no call) then when the Mavs got the ball on the other end it was a touch foul
(and 1) and im thinking, WTF??
