Out of high school, he was interested in MSU, ND, Iowa & Purdue receiving offers from all (according to Rivals).

If those are still the schools he is interested in, ND may be the only one he is able to go. Its possible that MSU would block any transfer to in conference schools, but who knows.

Yeah, kind of a leap of faith on my part to go with his list 2 years ago but a guy can dream right?

I guess if he is still interested in ND, a lot will depend on whether or not Brey & Co think he's a good fit for ND after his transfer year.

I don't know much in detail about the kid, but I would think if he has any interest Brey will be all over him. He has gotten a lot of good transfers the last few years, Hansbrough, Martin, etc.

just a quick question that's not related to this kid. How can the bball team accept transfer players, but the football team can't/doesnt?

It's not that they can't, they just choose not to that often. Because for the most part they don't have to, where as the basketball team needs a little more help.

The football team took Bemenderfer (sp?) from Nortwestern a few years back, but he was a local kid. Bobby Burger transferred from Dayton, and Ruffer came from William and Mary although he didn't go straight to the football team.

Kenton (Ohio) boys basketball coach Terry Rowe on MSU transfer Garrick Sherman: "It would be a shock if he doesn't go to #NotreDame."

Great News! I wouldn't mind him adding a little diversity to the team, but Brey has had great success with transfers. Sherman should take a long look at Carleton Scott this year, while he's sitting out.

Wasn't it reported that Scott is going for the draft but w/o an agent?

Thanks, BGIF. Didn't see the other thread obviously. Thanks again.

It was well hidden. I caught it before it got pushed off the ftront page.

And thanks for figuring out my second "thread" meant "Forum".

The recruiting trail seems to be getting better lately... it would be nice to see the irish pickup top 100 players every year.

#NotreDame has picked up a commitment tonight.....from Garrick Sherman, a transfer from Michigan State.

Welcome Garrick!

Recruiting is looking good the next few years...this is from an MSU fansite.

Seeing as that comes from the beat writer in South Bend, I'm willing to bet that's legit and that Sherman will be suiting up for the Fighting Irish starting in the Fall of 2012. Looking at Notre Dame's roster this seems like a good move, as the current Irish roster lists three players above 6'8" (albeit they list FIVE players at 6'8", including two guards -- go figure). In addition, the Irish haven't recruited a true center in 2010, 2011, 2012, so this move makes sense competitively, playing-time wise, and it'll keep him close to his home in Kenton, Ohio. If he can spend a year to work on his hands and add some weight it would not surprise me in the slightest to see him starting for Notre Dame to begin the 2012-2013 season.

I'm sad it couldn't work out for Sherman at Michigan State, and we here at The Only Colors wish him all the best in South Bend.
