What this comes down to is defense. Notre Dame is fifth in the nation in steals at twelve per game, ninth in rebound margin (8.5), and 19th in turnover margin (4.55). The Irish also have Devereaux Peters, the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. Peters is a shot blocking machine, with 67 swats to her credit this season.
With Texas A&M, defense is their fuel as well. The Aggies feast off turnovers. They forced 22 against Stanford on Sunday, allowing them to take 19 more shots than the Cardinals.
The key to the game will be Notre Dame protecting the basketball. If they limit turnovers, they will win and hoist the national championship trophy. However, if they succumb to Texas A&M's smothering full court pressure, if they turn the ball over, then it will be the Aggies partying when the game is finished.
