Hard to believe. I was really surprised when I read that. I'll be interested to hear in the weeks to come what caused this.

Man there is a ton of speculation on this...hard to say.

I will say this...Sloan endured Karl Malone and Larry Miller...I have an enormous amount of respect for both Larry and Karl, but both had mouths connected to the emotional side of their brain...and both were stubborn as hell...having to deal with those two individually, and when they were fighting each other...dear lord, NOTHING D-will could bring would have tested Sloan like that...all other things considered, I'll take him at his word that he doesn't have the energy to do it anymore...and IT, in part, is dealing with personalities, and punching buttons every day (unfortunately).

I will say this as well...He still won at a very solid rate w/o Stockton and Malone. I believe he is the best pure coach we've seen since Auerbach...yes above Popovich and Jackson...because he developed what talent he had relentlessly, and he willed teams to compete with what they had....and they fought like hell every night, and they won.

After the Bulls game, Sloan usually come out around 10 minutes after the game, but he was in the locker room for 30 minutes, and then he just left, without talking to the media, then he cancelled practice yesterday

Sloan is predictable and sometimes a little set in his ways. But his offenses have always been around the league leaders. It has been fun to watch the Jazz with him coaching.

But it was time for a change, hopefully Ty "the milkman" Corbin, can come in and tweek a few things and get them playing like they can.

Quick Sloan story; I was coaching, my son, in babe ruth, and we were leaving the diamond when this big *** dodge truck honks at me, I look over and it is Sloan, he points at me and says "hey stupid, your kid left his cleats on the top of your car".

I guess Sloan and DWill have been having problems all year, and in the Bulls game DWill was shaking Sloan off and running his own plays.

I am a huge DWill fan, but if a 6 year pro can run off a guy who has 45 years of NBA experience, what is next?

I believe DWill will be traded, I have a friend who works in the Jazz organization, and he says: All Jazz players are on the trading block, they are going to retool and start over, they need to find an identity, that Sloan provided all these years. Look for DWill to go to the Knicks/Lakers, and AK47 to go to New Jersey, just to start with.

thats awesome...he cracked me up. He so lacked the desire to be a politician about much of anything...I'll miss him.

I wouldn't mind that...I like Dwill as well. Good solid kid, hard worker....but much to learn about leading men I suspect. I watched that bulls game, and I was disappointed in their shot selection probably 65% of the time...whereas, in years gone by, except for the stuff Hornaceck did (and mostly made) they were usually very good at getting solid looks on offense. Something is indeed wrong...

Sloan lost the team, as crazy as that sounds.

They havent ran the pick and roll as much, they dont screen down low for Big Al, they do not have a perimeter game, yet they have been shooting too many threes.

Why doesnt Fesenko/Evans/Watson play more, they are the spark, yet the rotation has been suspect, Raja/Miles get way too many minutes, trade everyone except Milsap and Big Al.

I heard Phil Johnson turned down 3 million to coach the Jazz.

Yea, I'd have to say he did...when the team waves off the coach, and runs their own stuff...not good. Hell, Sloan tried to get Stockton to call plays, and he wouldn't...tells me Sloan was willing to turn the keys over if you showed you could drive...why he lost them, I'll probably never know...

...its funny you say that about the pick and roll...when they ran it, Chicago couldn't stop it. Those are the shots, outside a couple solid jumpers, where I thought they had good looks...

Sloan has always been a heavy loyalty guy...and tried to reward the guys doing the right things at practice, in games, and off the floor with PT...not just gametime performance. As a long term strategy it works...just looks ugly when he's doing it at times...

This team will get their chance...but if they think Corbin will fall very far from the Sloan tree, they will be disappointed...

I really always thought Johnson would take over for a time after Slaon retired...apparently he had no desire to do it...now rather that means he had his fill of these players, and will take a gig somewhere else...who knows. I looked at Jerry yesterday, and the glow in his eyes is gone...he is done. Phil still has it...I don't think he's done...rather he takes a local college gig, or comes back as a GM...he still has some basketball left.

Sloan has had his fights with players, I just think he is too old to fight with DWill.

Johnson at the University of Utah?

Ty is a Sloan guy!
