I posted this question in Ishaq's thread but didn't get much response and i'm really curious about this. Say the four mentioned in the title are all starters in a couple years how will diaco place them. Will he put two pash rushers on the same side or have the cat behind Tuitt? I would think you would put the cat behind a run stopper, but i don't know. Correct me if i'm wrong but aren't KLM and Williams both more run stoppers, i'm just curious what diaco will do with a pass rush DE like Lynch.

Coach D is very a smart man he will figure out how to get them on the field at the same time.

3-4 Ends are not really pass rushers....they will both be disciplined and trained to stop the run and rush the passer

Not sure i really get the question but, i believe Councell is the CAT and Ishaq would be DOG (i confuse the two spots though)

I thought Ishaq would be the CAT could be wrong though, the question is that Tuitt is more of a run stopper and Lynch is a pass rusher. I just wondered if Diaco would have Ishaq and Lynch, both pass rush specialists on the same side or not. I know councell can pass rush well too, but he will be in coverage and doing more. I thought having Ishaq behind Tuitt is more ideal, but i wasn't sure what diaco would do. Wasn't sure if he had a pass rush specialist at DE in one of his 3-4 defenses before ND for some insight on this.

All I know is that the D will be able to rush 3 or 4 and pressure ANY quarterback in the country. Thats huge...and has me VERY excited.

23 sacks a game, 34 tackles for loss and 9 INTs per game. It won't matter if they stand 11 straight across the line of scrimmage.

Don't be surprised to see Councell playing on the OL. Whatever it takes to get all these guys on the field and kicking some serious azz!

Disregard, I was thinking Hounshell ... he's always possible OL, if needed.

This is all assuming that Tuitt, Lynch, Williams and Councell are the best players at their positions.

Can we give some love to Kona, Shembo, Utupo and the rest?

provided the offense pans out and becomes the Kelly offense that we all are familiar with from Cinci....the D will be on the field more than enough for EVERYONE to get solid PT

That's not a good thing.

Hopefully Kelly realizes that he needs to run the ball often, a la late this season.

Oh I hope so too.....I just don't know if that will be the case
I'm expecting it not to be...but I'll be more than happy to see the running game used heavily and have the clock controlled...

I feel that the depth should be there on the defensive side of the ball to manage though

Oregon runs the ball ad nauseum and they still got off the field quickly.

Let's face it, if we're going to assume Brian Kelly will win games at Notre Dame because he has won everywhere else, then we should assume Notre Dame will be one of the lowest teams in terms of time of possession. The difference if Notre Dame will get seven points and not a net punt at the end of the quick drives. :)

I'll take it, then that MONSTER D can get us the ball back nice and quick like.

Is this gonna be like softball's legendary King and His Court?

No outfield (Secondary) required.

Hate to burst the bubble but there is this guy, maybe you heard of him, Kapron Lewis-Moore? Yeah he has eligibility left in 2012. If he returns I don't see him giving up his starting job that easily.

The great part about all this? There is potential for solid competition all along the line and throughout the linebacking corps! Especially for that other MLB spot alongside Te'o. We can have a higher caliber rotation to keep the pressure and intensity up! Gotta be excited!

Rasaba (who will be cat), Kendall Moore (who the coaches are high on), etc., . . . .

Notre Dame will be able to platoon two entire front seven's, without an appreciable drop off in ability. I will start a thread this weekend.

This touches the most important issue to 2011 success, that I haven't heard anyone discuss yet.

I think he's banking on KLM becoming an All-American and a first rounder next year.

In the past, Kelly has had low time of possession because he didn't had enough good recruits to field a dominating defense. His only course was to try to outscore the other team. But now he has.
Quick strike, three and out; quick strike, three and out; quick strike, three and out; ..........
I can't wait!

Then grind it out with a punishing ground game. Make the opposing team 'feel the pain'!
