It really showed on all those great punt returns he had, oh wait I mean fair catches.......

ok a little negative, but come on how can we not have a dymanic return man.
Were you watching the same games I was? If he tried to run he would have fumbled ten or twelve times with that abysmal blocking. Kelly could have rotated Hester and the Rocket back there and the stats would be the same.
Kelly had so much junk to correct, and so many injuries to contend with, his only option was to have someone who knew how to catch and stop turnovers in the punting game. If he wanted more bodies in the return game, he would have had to burn all the freshman red shirts to fill the gaps.
While I am at it, if we had a QB who could pick up a few first downs so we wouldn't have to punt at almost every third and long, that would be the equivalent of forcing three or four turnovers a game. With almost no exceptions, having a mobile QB (in college football) is necessary if you want to contend for the BCS, let alone for the NC.
And that means Golson and/or Hendricks.
Has anybody noticed how our early signees for the NFL draft have done in the past decade? Except for Bettis (and it took him ten years), not very well.

Exactly, Goodman had no choice but to fair catch nearly every punt he received this year.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, I am not saying that he should have broke it for a TD everytime. What I am saying is that 13 returns for 17 yards is horrible. I will give you blocking wasn't the best, and there were a lot of fair catches, but are you trying to tell me there was no time through out the whole season where he could have made a play or two. Ok I will give you he made one play, a 13 yard return. Take that one out and he had 12 returns for 4 yards. If you had Hester or Rocket back there at some point during the season they would have wiggled to make the initial tackler miss, and broken off a run for 20 yards. If we were talking about one game I could buy your arguement, but even bad special teams have a couple of returns during the year where the blocks at least average. I am not saying the Goodman should be off the team, I just don't want him returning kicks. And as far as Goodman being super fast, he ran a 4.71, 40. Again I know that is just a 40 time and not in pads or game speed, but I still wouldn't pick him as one of the fastest guys on the field from the ND roster. I would pick him as one of the guys to run the sharpest route. I like him as a WR, just not as a Punt Returner

I dont know where you got that 40 time...however when he was a recruit he was clocked at a 4.5 legit. And many DBs, Blanton particualry, said he is VERY FAST.
