Is he playing against middle school teams? I feel like he would be MUCH more talked about if this was against real competition. Ohio guys, on a scale of 1-10 how tough was Maty's schedule??

Let's hope he's not too intimidated by our group of amazing QBs we have in the stable now...

I had Peyton Manning throw for 8,000 yards in Madden '11. Stats mean nothing, this is about mechanics, leadership, and physical attributes. He is playing in one of the weaker leagues in Ohio and cannot be judged on the basis of his stats.

Maty's schedule is terrible to say the least. Maybe a 2. He plays in one of the smallest divisions in ohio. There are 6 total. The lower divisions have a small amount of good teams. When he does play good teams his numbers are not near as good. This guy is very good but not near what his numbers may show. Secondly his numbers are padded because everyone of his teams run plays are little screens. This just adds to his passing yards.
His numbers are rediculously padded due to poor competition and the offense. It is not an offense any college runs.
I coach hs football and would love Maty to be our qb, but I am not sure how he is talent wise for a big time school. I will leave that decision to the college coaches.

thanks, ive heard he's in a weak division, but still you have to have SOME talent to do that

Agreed but his brother had the same type of stats. Just shows it is the system and competition if someone else is having the exact same success. I know Maty could turn out to be awesome. But some caution needs to be had when looking at his stats. I say throw them away.

His team is notorious for running up the score. The stats are enormously inflated and he is a pretty mediocre prospect.

But look at the play makers that kelly is putting around him. That makes a difference too.

What makes him an intriguing prospect outside of the stats, is his overall athletic ability. Kid is an all state track performer in the 4x100, 4x200, and long jump. Adding this into the equation is what makes him the perfect fit for any spread system.

In regards to his schedule he plays in Division 4 in Ohio. There have been several good division 4 players that have done well in college (Kyle McCarthy at ND, Ross Homan at OSU, just to name a few)

I wouldn't call the league he plays in weak. It's not D 1 by no means, but there are good coaches and players in that league that would be tough to beat regardless of who they're playing.

With that said I believe Missouri is very much in play here for Maty seeing how they just lost Gabbert to the draft and the opportunity for him to come in and play right away is a little bit more likely than it would be at ND.

Bottom line is nobody was able to stop them last year for the most part, which may turn into it looking like they ran up the score. As a coach it's hard to keep taking your studs out of the game at halftime when you're up by 40+ points. They need to get they're reps too. What really was frowned upon was the onside kicks they continuously tried after they would score.
