We picked up a game on Michigan this year and I was wondering if any of you guys knew or knew where I could find an updated number on ND's and Michigan's all-time winning percentage. Thanks.

Just checked Wikipedia and it says:

Notre Dame has the 2nd highest winning percentage in NCAA history (.734), behind only Michigan (.735).[2][5][6][7]
As of the end of the 2010 football season, Notre Dame has the 3rd most wins in NCAA history (845), trailing only Michigan (884) and Texas (850).[7]
As of 2010, Notre Dame also has the fewest losses of any Division I-A program (295) (minimum 700 games played).[8]
As of 2010, Notre Dame has 103 winning seasons in 122 years of football, and only 13 losing seasons.

Again not sure if that is including this season or not

It also says from 1887-2010 we had 120 seasons, 31 Coaches, 845 wins, 295 losses, 42 ties, for a .733 per.

(U of M is listed as a .735 per)

Did that math real quick in my head, so i could be off, but if ND goes 9-3 next season and UM goes 6-6 (both likely) ND will take the winning % back by 1/100 of a %.

Also, interesting, Wiki has Harby listed as UM's coach...hmm...

Yup, we can def take that winning % back next season if we can go 9-3 over the regular season. Michigan will have to post a 6-6 record.

I looked up the actual numbers during the Michigan disembweolment. Stassen and College Football Data Warehouse disagree about the totals so I went to the UND and UM official football sites. Here are the totals through 2010. ND is still 2.5 games behind. They'll have to pick up 3 more wins than Michigan to retake the lead. Michigan's got an easy opening schedule in 2011. ND should be the only loss. They open with WMU, then ND, EMU, SDS, MN, NW, MSU, PU, IA, IL, NU, and OSU. The latter half of the schedule has a bunch of "L"s.

If ND establish's a solid #1 QB in Spring Ball, they could well retake the lead in '11.

HTML:
Team	Wins	Loses	Ties	Winning %
UM	884	310	36	0.733333
ND	845	295	42	0.732657

The wait for next season is going to be painfully worse knowing that it is possible to take this record back... BTW welcome back BGIF!

BGIF-
The statistics you quote above count ties as half-wins. I think I'd rather just throw the ties out:
UM 884/(884+310) = 0.740368
ND 845/(845+295) = 0.741228

Yes, it does, ties were considered half wins and half losses. That's the way the Winningest Percentage has been calculated since leather helmet days.
