bench max--225
NOT GOOD!!! if this is correct...i know it isn't a bench pressing competition but it shows a huge lack of upper body strength for someone his size....im 185 and can do it 8x's

first, it is easier to bench press at 5-8 than at 6-8 because of how much longer his arms are the weight is harder to control. second, it might be 225 for "X" amount of reps...either way at 6-8 a big program will take a shot at him and probably end up making him a man.

I was a little worried about that as well but it may be incorrect or it may be because he is tall and young. Rivals has his max posted at 225 so thats what I went with. Either way, I'm sure Longo could take care of that.

I hate people that think bench-pressing is the end-all-be-all of football. Listen, name me one situation where a kid will be flat on his back on the football field, digging in with his feet, and pushing upwards.

If he Hammer Jammed 225, I'd be nervous. But bench pressing is nothing but a display of non-football related skills.

I'm saying this even after I benched 415 in college my senior year. Nothing in the bench press translates to the football field. (Other than some shoulder fast twitch)

I did one rep at 225 in high school. It was cool.

Well said Wabash, my dad is a strenth coordinator and used to get pissed at me for wanting to bench all the time, "all that's good for is pushing a dude off you after he flat-backed your ***!"....415, damn!! I only got to 365 in college, really wanted to make a run at 4 wheels, but alas I am now old and chubby.

His offer list is impressive and I would enjoy having a 6'8" tackle that wasn't a complete failure.

How athletic is he though? Is he mobile? After watching our tackles in the bowl game pulling and trapping we don't need mountains to lock down the edges. Don't get me wrong he looks tonhave the body to play tackle but we may be looking for a different type of lineman.

....need the feet....body parts are useless at OT without the great feet. [a la Hegarty]. If he's got them then Longo can put the rest of that 6'8" together, like he's doing with Nichols and will do with Springman. I'm only interested in 6'8" because that usually brings 6'8"-quality arm extension [or even greater]. If a 6'5" guy had a 6'8" guy's arm extension, then they're the same tackle. Where his helmet ends up in the air doesn't matter---but you guys know that already, so I apologize for talking too much.

speed you can't teach !!! strength on the other hand with kids that age can be built at speed which is amazing. Bench press means nothing I bench 350 and im a father of 5 who plays tiger woods golf 11 hours a week. Squats on the other hand I swear by.

I really like his measurables...he looks very raw, but has a lot of potential to get bigger and faster. If his footwork is good, we'll prolly be after him shortly.

Says that we're his favorite since he visited. He wanted to commit right away but wants to do things the right way and take his time.

Seems like a smart kid with a good support system.

This kid is an absolute monster...he makes everything look so easy on the field. With some coaching he is going to be a tremendous asset to the offensive line. Watching the film again he could use some work with his hips, but I think that's something that can be done in the weightroom.

He does want to play for ND and I think he'll be our first commit. He has a long way to go to be an elite offensive lineman a this level, but this kids upside is very high. He hasn't even scratched the surface of his skill set. The potential alone with this young man is what earned him this offer.

He is taking five visits in March and going to decide in April. ND is his front runner for sure. Just backed out of the MSU junior day when he received his Irish offer. He is also a good bball player. Shows he has good athletic ability.

He has his visits set for this month:

March 12th- Northwestern
March 19th- Michigan
March 26th- Wisconsin

He will also be taking two visits to Notre Dame, who he claims is still his favorite. He said he was close to committing on junior day but promised those close to him that he would take visits. He will be at Notre Dame for their first spring practice at the end of this month.

My personal opinion is Taylor Decker will commit to the University of Notre Dame on March 23rd. He is all Irish unless Michigan and Brady Hoke just blow him away on his visit.

would love to land this guy...ton of potential with that size. Very raw and a nice project for Coach Longo, but love his mean streak on film. Man among boys for sure.

New article on Scout on him...love the way he talks about ND and its winning tradition...if he ends up anywhere but ND that may be the recruiting shock/upset of the year.

Funny to see how thin he is in the picture previewing the article...i'm pretty sure that pic is from his sophomore year so it's good to see that he's already bulked up a bit.
