Given our team's record, I was gonna wait on this match up to see if ND is actually good. It's clear to me that we have not beaten anybody. Georgetown is overrated. Mike Brey needs to move on. We are long over due for a new coach. ND has gone nowhere under Brey.
Holy overreaction, Batman!
It's tough to recruit basketball players to ND these days, like it or not. Brey is doing a great job without a great deal of flashy talent. He had his team playing another solid road game until ONE player turned the game on its head: Scott Martin. I like the kid and admire his toughness coming back from a horrible knee injury, but he still isn't quite back in the swing of things. His back-to-back turnovers ignited a Syracuse run and while we were trying to get back into it he put us further behind by stepping out of bounds. In the blink of an eye we went from a back-and-forth game to totally out of it. Nothing Brey could have done there (he used his timeouts really well, but 'Cuse is just too much at home when they start running).
If you've never been to the Carrier Dome, I have to say: Good F'ing luck after 'Cuse gets on a run and up 10+ points. That place goes bananas, loud as hell and it's so stuffy in the winter it gets hard to breath if you aren't used to it (not kidding either).
Anyway, winning on the road in the Big East is tough. Everyone should know this just watching the Irish knock off team after team at the ACC the last few years. This team plays good, solid, hard-nosed basketball. They will be a force the rest of the Big East schedule and hopefully win a game or two in the tournament.
