Not true. BK wants him back BADLY. You don't have a kicker go 100% and then tell him that he can leave b/c of a freshman with a big leg who's never kicked under real pressure before. From everything I've read, if Ruffer stays, he gets his scholly. He has already said he won't stay if he doesn't get a scholly, b/c he has Wall Street interviews lined up for him if he doesn't want to play football anymore (the dude apparently is pretty damn brilliant).
True on the top paragraph, but incorrect on the part about 23-25 players. If they can, they will most likely end up with 30 (assuming they can get the 10 EE's, which they are on their way to getting).
Here's the thing with SC, as far as I can tell, and I follow them closely: They will self-impose 5 scholly reductions for this year. The appeal will not be heard on time, therefore they are accepting a 5 scholly ban instead of 10, and basically rolling the dice. So that leaves them with a class of around 20. However, with the 10 EE's, that will get them up to a possibility of 30. Now, they got a transfer from Miami mid-year, so he counts as an EE, so that leaves them with 9 EE's. And they have a FB who didn't qualify last year that might get in, and if he does, he would count as an EE too (although that's still very much up in the air).
So, SC will try to get into the 28-30 range. They're picking up some low-rated seniors and low-rated JC guys just to get their roster #s back, and of course they have their normal array of 4 stars and 5 stars as well. But I'm loving how they are justifying their 2 and 3 star guys with the "I trust the staff - they are the best recruiters in the country" - ignoring that it's obvious the guys they are getting are plan B's whose biggest asset is either their ability to be an EE or the fact that they play a position of dire need (O0line, LB) and SC is desperate...
