Like the way Haden says "There's no hiding the ball at this point. At what point will there be hiding the ball? I bet we can all guess.

Well i guess for about 10 Bush could get his heisman back, and for about 15 SMU could get its death sentence repealed.

Honestly, that's fine by me. A one game suspension seems like it's more than enough to pay back for a golf cart ride. You'd hope that he could give more out of the goodness of his heart, but I don't know his financial situation nor do I think the NCAA should start requiring their athletes to pay fines.

I understand you but come on $5 is a little cheap don't you think. It is for charity.

So your saying ""theoretically of course"" that a game costs about $5 for a player. Hmmmm USC must be spending QUITE a bit of dough

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't even his money he donated.

I mean he needs some money to take his dates to McDonalds, well the dollar menu anyways

I don't remember there being $5 golf cart rides at any games I attended. Hell I don't even remember them being offered. There shouldn't be a price put up for him to BUY his was out of this issue. He still violated the rules.

I think he has served his time with missing the OSU game.

However, if the $5 is supposed to be fair market value representing compensation for services received how much would a similar cab ride cost in that part of LA?

Unintentional illegal benefits are typically allowed to be repaid by an equivalent donation to a qualifying charity. I don't take issue with the procedure as much as I do with him being a cheap ***.

I think I agree with you. The $5 is symbolic, the real punishment was missing the game.

I think this was a huge PR stunt by USC to show how proactive their compliance department is these days. I mean they broke the story everyone. It all sounds really stupid, why is this even news.

How does one figure out the market value of a golf cart ride across campus anyways? $5 seems a bit excessive, should be around $2.50.

Dont be so hard on the guy. I beat the living S H I T out of him for hollering at my girlfriend. So after I beat his ARSE, I took his weed AND his money and only left him 5 bucks. So he decided to give it to charity so he could be clear to play on saturday so he could get paid from the game. Drug deal gone bad I guess. Thats what he gets for coming all the way to michigan to score some dope. BEOTCH NOW WHAT?

I'm okay with the nominal donation.

I'm okay with the nominal donation.

The entire situation, reeks of the systemic deterioration, at U$C. The fact that the"student/agent" had conversations with the brass at U$C, yet still gave Baxter the ride, says volumes. I hope we kick the Trojan's asses in Kiffen's last game as HC at U$C this weekend.

To piggy back on your point, he is a college kid who doesn't have much money. Five bucks is better than nothing. I'm sure you all remember having tight wallets in college. Buying keystone light and what not.

it's not a big deal he got a ride however the problem was that the players were told at least a week in advance NOT to accept a ride from him.

When you take benefits, you are supposed to pay back the nominal costs of the benefits you took. For example, you take a free airplane trip to work out with an agent, it is the cost of the flight. What I am puzzled by is how you can put a nominal value on a golf cart ride? What exactly is the value of a golf cart ride across campus? Is that even a benefit considering the guy gives his friends rides to class too?

This is the dumbest **** I every heard. Sounds like a lame attempt at USC showing they are being proactive in compliance. They should kick the agent/student out of school if it was so bad.
