Let me preface this by saying regardless of your political views or opinions on George Dub, he is an ex President and this story is cool.

My Roommate, who is a Notre Dame fan as well, went to get his book signed by George W. Bush here in Texas. He was wearing his Fighting Irish tshirt when he approached the former president..... this is how it all went down.

"RM- It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. President, your book is a really good read...
Bush- Fighting Irish? Heck yea, Go Irish!
RM- (Stunned) Go IRISH! "

On a side note, I heard of a book signing for Bin Laden in Southern California. He saw a guy with an SC shirt on and he said, "Go Trojans".

ZING..........That is the second Osama Ben Laden reference to USC... things are starting to point that they are a terrorist organization...LOL....

On a side note, I hope we added some humor to the Government Agent that is checking why OBL's name has hit a website three times in two days.

Look guys, the OP asked it not to get political. There are plenty of political threads in the archives, and if you must talk politics, then just start a new thread. As was said, this is a cool story...any time the former leader of the free world says Go Irish, regardless of political affiliation, that's an interesting thing. If you hate Bush that much, fine, to each his own, but go to a Bush-bashing thread. This is just a story about a former prez saying Go Irish to an Irish fan (which we all are!)...

Alright, as an academic, bleeding heart liberal (most of my family called me a socialist even before that name was aimed at the current POTUS) my take on this story - it's really cool!

As said above - you have to respect the office. It is cool he took the time to acknowledge an institution that truly believes that it is all about God, Country, and then Notre Dame.

If there was more respect and less vitriolic name calling in politics maybe the whole lot of them in D.C. could do more for all of us.

yeah his signs around town looked like poster board and magic marker...and they friggin ran when it rained...i think he got about 4 votes in the primary...what a hoot...go w!
