Guys,
I see all these notes and there seems to be some confusion on who has 5th eligibility, who is actually a senior and what juniors could leave for the NFL. Plus, how many roster spots do we have.
Here is the current situation. The seniors with 5th year eligibility are as follows.
Mike Ragone - TE. He will be asked to return as he gives us depth at TE with a good blocker.
Taylor Dever - OT. He will be coming back, since he started many games this year.
Matt Romine - OT. He will be coming back, he started a few games and gives solid upper class depth.
Andrew Nuss - OG. He played in mop-up duty. He will likely be asked back since we lose Stewart and he would provide depth as the likely 3rd guard.
Emeka Nwanko - DL. He played some back-up, but will not be asked back with all the depth on DL and several new recruits.
Steve Paskorz - LB. His career is done with injury. He is on medical scholarship.
Gary Gray - DB. He will be back. He has already stated that he wants to return.
Harrison Smith - DB. He stated in an interview last week that he has a 5th year and will be returning.
Brandon Walker - K. He is ONLY asked back if Ruffer goes to the NFL. I see Ruffer returning. He needs another year to improve leg strength on KO's.
As for Juniors.
Michael Floyd - WR. I would say that he has a slight chance to return. The WR draft class has become much deeper this season. In August, I would have given him a ZERO percent chance to return. I am going to give him a 30% chance of returning.
Kyle Rudolph - TE. I said the only way he does not go pro after this year is an injury. The weird thing is that he is injured and yet still listed as the Number 1 TE on everyone's draft board. So, I am not sure he returns if his rehab goes well or is ahead of schedule.
In the end, I would love to have both or either of Floyd or Rudy back, but we will all just have to cross our fingers.
Given the recent de-commitments and how many spots we have on the roster, I believe we take back most of our 5th years.
