Will the Irish Band be making the trip for the game? It's not the same without them.

Don't know...

Don't know...

What I do know is that I will be there. The last ND game
attended was with Navy at the same place.

I could not believe the number of Irish fans and tail-
gating at that game. Hope it is the same this satur-
day. So...

It would be a shame if the band were not there. It's the pageantry, stupid!

Among the goals of scheduling off-site games such as this is to garner interest, support and exposure for the Notre Dame football experience. The band is a large part of that experience.

I think that they should be there. I think that the resources are available to "make it so." If they are not at the game I'll be disappointed. I'll even shut up ... for a while.

according to the ND band site they will be at the Army game but not Navy. The band will perform in time square.... Wish I could see that live! Go Irish!

I was surprised when I learned that the band doesn't always travel. Like dshans said, the whole point of traveling is to hook people in with the whole Irish 'thing.'

When I saw ND play UW in Seattle I was pretty disappointed that the 'band' only consisted of about 5 geriatrics that didn't even know the Fight Song that well, and as for 'Notre Dame Our Mother?' Forget it.

Absolutely no disrespect if you are, or happen to know any of the aforementioned 'geriatrics.' ;)

I attended just my 3rd game in South Bend, this past weekend, and noticed something:

Has the band always sent "missionaries" out into the crowd, to form little "mini bands", and play in the aisles?

Having played in the band, I believe the band typically only travels for 1 road game a year, and typically its a proximity thing. My freshman year was Michigan, sophomore year was Sparty, junior year was Columbus. My sophomore year we actually went to Soldier Field for Northwestern as well. Senior year was the Ireland trip vs. Navy, and there was no other away trip.

We went to the Cotton, Fiesta, and Orange my 3 years there, I have not been attentive enough to recall if the band has been to non-BCS bowl games. Quite the expensive proposition to fly 500 people to a game with accommodations and food.....

We are an event game, which is why we ALWAYS see the opposing teams band in our stadium.

The ND music was provided by what looked to be a subway
alum group in back of the goal posts...Tom

Older alums may correct me, but I believe this tradition started sometime when I was at school ('94 or '95).

They have been doing this for every game I was at. It is always after halftime.

This is accurate. 3rd quarter only. Neat to get members of the band to all corners of the stadium. Don't know that it does anything to get the crowd lathered up.

Hey Irish Giant, if the band isn't coming can you and some of NY's Finest bring your bagpipes? Love the ND pipe band at the pep rally and around campus before home games but if the Emerald Society pipes were there in force now that would be a show.

We are heading up from Philly for the game and can't wait to see the new stadium as well as a big Irish victory.

IG, thanks for all you and your co-workers do everyday!

I talked to the Secretary of our Emerald Society on Sunday. Unfortunately it appears that the Pipes & Drums will not be able to make the game due to a scheduling conflict. We are holding a rally in the Meadowlands HorseRacing Track near Lot M before the game. The ND Cheerleaders, and Lep will be there as well as an Irish Rock band called Shilelagh Law, here is their link. S.L - Bare-Knuckle Irish Music. Thanks for the love.

It appears some tickets are available to the general public if anyone is interested in going. Click on the upcoming shows to access it.

Anyone going to the pregame bash drop me a Pm and we'll meet up for some brews. GO IRISH!
