Per IrishSportsDaily, the Fighting Irish have been prepping for the Navy team's triple option offense for some time now; just a conjecture, but it might explain why they came out so flat in the 1st half of the WMU game. Also notes that the players have the week off on account of fall break, so they'll be getting ready for the earlier start time by practicing earlier this week.

It's going to be a long week...

Go Irish!

Our run defense has been a lot better this year and I think we will step up this week. The triple option is a hard defense to prepare for but Diaco has a lot of experience defending it. I think our front 7-8 will be ready and we get another relatively easy win. Due to time of possession I don't think we will put up 45-50 points but I don't think the game will be in question.

Exactly, I especially like this decision because we also play Army, which runs the option. Hopefully we see the results of this advanced preparation against Navy.

I think we will be ready for Navy this Saturday and am hoping that all of this extra focus on the triple option will pay off. We really need this win.
