So USC is better than we thought...

I posted something similar to this earlier. I think we have a better shot of beating Utah at this point. A lot can change, but we have Utah at home, and we are SC's bowl game.

USC has offensive talent, their defense is still a joke though. Were it not for a Stanford fumble they easily could've won this game going away by 14.

We're going to have to outshoot them...this is looking like a great finish. UnBELIEVABLE drive by Stanford.

I seriously cannot wait until USC finishes up something like 8-4 or 7-5... and near the bottom of the PAC. They should lose to Oregon and probably at least one more game. They'll keep Kiffin through the schollie reductions/bowl ban and then fire him for a coach they want. We better enjoy these next three years.

Michigan lost, Alabama lost, USC lost 2 straight, Florida lost 2 straight, ND is on a 2 game win streak. Simplified but still nice to see!

They have an explosive offense. Our offense is shaky and inconsistent. I don't think we can pull it off, especially at USC.

It's shaky and inconsistent now...who knows what either team will look like 7 weeks from now? ND's improving week to week, while SC may have 5-6 losses and quit by the time the game rolls around.

It bugs me when people say this, We aren't their bowl game, their bowl game is the last game of the season against their crosstown rivals, even if it is at the Rose Bowl against UCLA and not the Colosseum, it's 9.5 miles apart.

Pretty premature thread imo

Way premature, but he's known to do this on game days. So they played well against Stanford...so now we can't beat them??? Have you seen them play this year? I've seen all 6 games. They played like absolute crap in 5 out of 6. They were losing against teams like Hawaii, Virginia and Minnesota. Wash St played with them for a half. And Washington, who lost to a 1-4 BYU team, beat them at the Coliseum, and this was a revenge game for them!

Going into this week, after playing that POS schedule, they ranked 99th (!!!!!) in total defense. And today was no better.

Oh, and they're coach is Kiffy boy.

And I'm supposed to think we can't beat them???

They may very well beat us and I imagine they'll be favored, but make no mistake about it, they can be beaten by us, most definitely. These are not Pete Carroll's Trojans Shaq...

Even if Stanford scores here, I don't think we can beat this team.
I would agree but was pulling for southern cal to win the game as they are still on the schedule and would help our strength of schedule. They looked good on offense, defense may be vulnerable. They are still pretty darn good.

Touche. My mistake, but we are still the USC seniors' last home game.

They should be motivated and I just think we have a better shot, right now, of beating Utah as opposed to SC. We have Utah at home and hopefully they'll be hung over, one way or another, from their game with TCU. We also have a bye week before Utah to better prepare. Hopefully we are firing on all cylinders by then and can get a win. We certainly can beat USC, I just happen to think we have a better shot against Utah.

Looking at the way they played against a common opponent, Stanford, on the road, in comparison to how we played them at home is certainly reasonable. Things can absolutely change by then. ND and USC may be completely different teams, but it's not high treason what people are suggesting.

I don't think it's that USC is better than anyone thought, but more that Stanford might have lost a bit of it's swagger after getting punched in the mouth in the second half of their game last week. I wasn't able to watch their game, so I could be wrong.

I think you're wrong

I think you're wrong

USC is very good and getting better offensively. Barkley is a stud, the usual stable of RBs, big talented OL, and a stable of WRs including a superstar in the making in true frosh Woods. Defense is where the problems lie. The talent is there, but they need to stop shooting themselves in the foot. The secondary is the real weak area, but boneheaded plays/penalties killed them last night.

Bottom line, USC did not almost win that game because Stanford was down, they almost won because they are a good team. ND will have its hands full next month.

Don't be so sure about that

Don't be so sure about that

Also, USC played Stanford much tougher than ND, and they did it on the road. And forget about any nonsense that Stanford was not up for that game after losing last week @ Oregon. Only the Cal game is a bigger game than USC for Stanford. Actually it would not surprise me to learn Harbaugh would rather beat USC than Cal.

USC is a lot better than some here seem to think. Wishful thinking from some here more than anything else I suspect.

USC definitely has talent, at least on the field. On the sidelines, it's a different story. ND's offense should be in much better shape by that time, as will the D. We are entering a 3 game stretch that will pump up Crist's confidence and allow Kelly to iron out a lot of kinks. This thread is a lifetime away from the game.

i think monte kiffins defense matches up much better with the offense stanfod likes to run, usc has very talented offense and a QB, with a good qb you can win a lot of games. lets hold our predictions until sc week tho!

Michigan barely beat us and MSU barely beat us, MSU demolished Michigan. It really just depends on how good USC will play when they face us, we have a good chance of beating them this year IMO.

We had no QB for a half, we absolutely dominated them in all phases of the game when Crist was in.
