The Utah game would be the only game I can imagine if both teams are highly ranked... Utah will prob. be up there... not so sure we will, but it's not a huge stretch to think both teams could come in with 2 or fewer loses... SC is a possibity but that's in LA

other than the game Utah game... ain't happenin'

If Notre Dame get's themselves ranked pretty high I could possibly see ESPN being there for the UTAH game.

Not this year. It takes a pretty huge game to make ABC/ESPN put on a carnival for NBC's benefit. Even if we are both undefeated, USC woud be a tough call since they are not bowl eligible. They cheated and got caught remember? And then Bush had his Heisman yanked, and Will Ferrell looked confused and stupid, and Snoop Dogg got high, and Pete Carroll skipped town before the train he was driving wrecked in slow motion..... DAMN I never get tired of that!

I could be wrong but the Gameday location is always the prime time game on ABC. I simply do not see Gameday coming to South Bend, talking up a game only to have NBC have coverage.

I see an ND game being a 'gameday' game but it would be one of the 3 away games. Just my opinion.

The reason is Herbie does Gameday during the day and then does the broadcast at night. Since it would be an NBC game, Herbie would have to be in South Bend in the AM and then head to the primetime game location. Currently, the Utah weekend shows

No. 18 Penn State at No. 2 Ohio State
No. 24 South Carolina at No. 8 Florida
No. 12 Miami (FL) at No. 15 Georgia Tech
No. 22 Georgia at No. 21 Auburn

Unless gameday is South Bend and Herbie calls Penn State v. Ohio State...I do not see it.

Consider next week the two prime time ABC games are

No. 5 Texas at Texas Tech
Notre Dame at Michigan State

Now I know Texas is Texas but an all Texas game against Texas Tech does not have much national appeal. On the flip side, ESPN is only going to have 3 chances to show an ND game.

Boston College week has the following match ups

No. 1 Alabama at No. 24 South Carolina
No. 19 LSU at No. 8 Florida
No. 17 Florida State at No. 12 Miami (FL)

I think BC week, ESPN in going to be in Coral Gables.

Next is USC week:

No. 19 LSU at No. 14 Arkansas
No. 8 Florida at No. 17 Florida State
No. 15 Georgia Tech at No. 22 Georgia

I think USC week, ESPN is between the hedges.

So long story short, if ND and MSU win this week, I think ESPN will be in East Lansing showing highlights of the recent close games all morning long and that is the only time ND is going to be a gameday game.

Yes, if we're undefeated(at least 3-0) playing an undefeated team that has easily won all of there games & looks to have a potential BCS bowl birth coming there way.

Oh yeah, I'm thinking of a ND game not a ND home game. My answer is no for Gameday at Southbend.

If Pitt rights the ship, maybe. If Utah is for real, which over the years they have proven so, that would be the one. Depends on how high we climb though. This is assuming we don't lose. Which is saying a lot, unfortunately.

This is not always true. The red river rivalry between Oklahoma and Texas last year was a gameday game and it was played at 12:00 on ESPN. However, College Gameday will never come to ND for a game because of TV rights, so I think our best shot is going to be Michigan St. If we lay the wood to Michigan this week and Michigan St. thoroughly spanks Florida Atlantic then I'll see you guys in East Lansing for College Gameday

If that is the logic the best shot is SC... if both are double digit win teams...

BUT Gameday has come to ND before and will again... just the fact that they have been here in the past five years says something does it not?? What channel the game is played on will not matter if ND is in an undefeated showdown late in the year at home... trust me.

Unless it is a #1vs#2 or similar, Gameday wont come simply because they are hyping a game they dont make any money from, it would have to be another USC 05 kind of thing

ESPN does a good job covering football, but the do an even better job of promoting themselves. For them to come to ND, it would take a huge, late season game with BCS title game on the line. Otherwise why give all that pub to NBC.

which of course was NOT a 1 vs.. 2 thing....... if we get back to where we want to be they'll do it... they've done it before many times...

But I think that was before the put out those massive TV contracts. I could be wrong.

I simply do not see how they come to South Bend, talk up a game and then hand it over to NBC. I just do not see it.

Gameday is about the extra coverage for the teams playing. The location is almost secondary. If you are an ESPN executive all you care about is the ND fan base. You are going to get the same spike in viewers for a ND "gameday game" in East Lansing as South Bend, so why give the benefit to NBC?

They came here for #1 USC Vs #9 ND when bush push happened. If Utah is ranked top 10 and were ranked top 10 then there may be a slim chance that Gameday would come to ND.

They would have been here for the Michigan game the next year also if that week wasn't "seperation saturday" and had some insane ammount of top 15 vs. top 15 games

If we win and MSU wins Saturday, they will be in East Lansing next week. The other option will be Florida/Tennessee. BK is a still a hot topic and a victory over The Shoelace Gang will make us very topical on a relatively slow week for great games "on paper."
