TURNOVERS!!!!!
D line depth was an issue in the second half
Pass protection is still shaky
Timing in passing game was very bad

Agree with all.

- The draw murdered us. Purdue probably got themselves a half a dozen first downs on the draw.

- Confidence.

agreed,

-add still no pressure from the interior... at all
-when you don't get pressure TRY TO BAT THE BALL!!! wtf is with ND's front seven the past five or so years... get a hand up, they started doing this a little in the second half but this should be an every passing down fundamental and it simply has not been for far too long
-still overpursuing on the blitz...
-still not wrapping up on tackles far too often, though it did look better than years past...

crist needs to improve his timing

???? really? That's not what I saw.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

not one time all game did we get pressure from the middle... we got some from the ends... but for the most part it was a repeat of the past two seasons... zero penetration from the down linemen...

when we DID pressure him it was off the edge and it was because Marve rolled right into it...

not knocking our boys... just something we need to work on... still

I thought the pressure from the D-line was pretty good.

4 sacks by the 3 D-lineman.

It's not easy making plays when the QB is rolling out 85% of the time.

Out of the few times Marve stayed in the pocket he had pressure in his face.

crist needs to improve his timing

He completed 73% of his passes. How much better timing could he have had?

He made one HUGE mistake, in missing Floyd in the end zone. Other than that, he threw much better than I expected.

Yes but Kelly played it safe and most throws were underneath. He missed bad whenever they went over the top and alot is because of timing

Floyd's first 4 catches were for an average of 18.5. His timing couldn't have been that bad.

Wow...the defensive line was in the backfield all game on passing downs and stuffed the run. WTF is the OP talking about?

Second half when Purdue was attempting their come back the d line was no where and thats either because A. They were tired or B. the back ups couldnt get pressure. Thats why i said depth, the starters were great, read my other posts

Its not the run so much as conatining the QB. the LB's did a descent job of containment today but left cut back lanes. Gotta clean that up

Not making stupid mistakes. Floyd doesn't have that idiot fumble and the safety doesn't happen and we win by the same score as Michigan.

Marve isn't half the runner that Robinson is. Although Robinson looks fragile, and wasn't too crisp on some plays. Just saying that letting Robinson run is going to single handedly kill us.

B. Smith was not so good. Terrible in Coverage and still can't tackle. He is a good pass rusher and that is about it.

I don't know what it is, everytime a guy caught the ball wide open you would see B.Smith trotting behind him.

i honestly like B.Smith for some reason and would love to see him succeed, but i don't know what it is, maybe he should be a DE not a LB

We will have a total different objective, the defense ends will just go for containment. But Denard will slaughter us if A. We do not wrap up, he'll juke the running knockout hits (Manti) B. We Do not Hold our gaps. its not gonna be so much gettin pressure with the interior line, just not gettin pushed off the ball and openin bus size lanes.

What bothered me was this little roll outs to the WR for out patterns. Marve got all his completions with those stupid passes. Dont we run a cover 2? I dont know why there was no adjustments.

I am not sure it was BK keeping the offense that basic, I think Crist went for the automatic on his checkdowns. There were a few windows Floyd was open. He seemed a little hesitant.

He managed the came well so I cant complain, but hes gonna have to come out of his shell next week if we want to win. The defense will be average, but the offense is going to have to score.

I just feel like the defense was playing to prevent the big play, but allowed PU to eat up 1st downs, you do have to credit purdue for making halftime adjustments, however i think we will need to "fill in the gaps" to stop future opponents

shit i thought our d-line was a factor for a change...i must have missed some of the game somehow...crist looked pretty fucking good in my opinion (i hope kelly had enough sense to give him some safe reads in his FIRST start)...overall i thought we did fine, not great and probably not good enough to beat michigan, but fuck we didnt dissapear in the second half for a change...i smiled just about all day...we won!!!!!!!!

I think the biggest negative was just our inability to finish the game.

Floyd's fumble, the cringe inducing safety, Cierre fumbling the kickoff after Purdue had just made it a one score game... These things just cannot happen when we have the opportunity to put the game away.

brian smith is a band aid,he's not going to play the rest of the yr. Kelly said we had to go to some guys. He meant smith.Fleming crampled the whole game.
Also, the kook aid on teo is funny.
Kelly singled him out totally.
"we missed a lot of tackles, and from our really key players, when we look at the film, we are going to agree that wasnt very good", and that's kelly being nice.
the defense is going to be avg at best,so crist is going to have to get dramatically better, fast.
he looked like he had "the deer in the headlight's" thing going on during most of the 2nd half. hopefully, its just first game jitters, but notre dame is going to give up a ton of pts this year and the offense needs to be dynamic. Other than dever, the off line played well. martin was awesome.robinson is a great run blocker.so, the oline is in pretty good shape.
It could be scary with our olb's chasing dennard robinson next week.Need to play wide open from the get go. Michigan's biggest weakness is still there secondary. Need to jump on them early.
special teams looked great.ruffer's 47 yr field goal with 45 seconds left in the first half was clutch. Especially, after crist's horrendous one hopper on a gimme third down ,missed first down. Crist needs to just play, and let it go. Kelly said that over and over again.
Crist is the key for notre dame, if he plays like he did yesterday, notre dame is in trouble.
This is his 3rd yr at nd, he shouldnt be so tentative, even if it is first real shot. I am praying this was mostly jitters, but I dont think kelly has a lot of confidence in him yet. That better change immediately.
game balls:
offense- floyd,martin
defens- gray
spec teams- ruffer, bennett jackson

looks like 8-4.

Keep pounding the recruiting trail for speed, speed, speed.
